SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM
Contact the parish in person and fill out an inquiry form in order to have an interview with the pastor or one of the members of the preparation team. It is mandatory that parents/Godparents seeking to baptize an infant are presently practicing their faith. Practicing the faith means that the parents/Godparents have been already attending Sunday mass regularly (not occa-sionally) and have been using offertory envelopes for a minimum of a year to ensure commitment to the parish. This commitment is expected of the par-ents/Godparents, not the grandparents or relatives.
FIRST COMMUNION & CONFIRMATION PROGRAM
Please contact the office for information. Our programs begin in the fall (September or October) and end with the reception of the sacraments.

you deposit such requests in either St. Jude’s
Chapel candle box or the Sunday collection, we
may not get to see this request in time to fulfill it.
Healing Mass We are planning on changing the day of the

will be announced shortly. Please note that dur-
ing the summer months if the weather turns out
to be too unbearable for the elderly and the sick,
we will suspend the administration of the
Anointing of the Sick and just have a regular

your children to join us!
The prayer of imagination is a wonderful way to experience today’s Gospel.
Imagining ourselves to be actually there, we witness the heart-felt compassion Je-
sus has for the suffering. Watch, as lives are transformed. At every Eucharist, as
we celebrate the dying and rising of Jesus, we are invited to experience our own
lives being restores. With open hearts and renewed minds, may we each receive
the sacred blessing that awaits us.

Planning to be a Catholic School
Teacher? It is critical for you to know that to be hired
to teach in any Catholic School Board in
Ontario as part of your application for em-
ployment there must be a letter of reference
from your pastor. If you are planning to
apply to teach in a Catholic School, it is
highly recommended to contact the pastor
a year in advance, especially in light of the
fact that all universities make this matter
known to every student at the beginning
of the year. Please plan to have a conversa-
tion with your pastor early in the process
(not the week before you are submitting
your application) and you will avoid disap-
pointment and stress at the time when ap-
plications are to be submitted. The follow-
ing are required at St. Jude’s:
Be (yourself, not your parents or grand
parents) a registered member of the
parish using offertory envelopes (at least
1 year before the application).
Be in the parish for participation in Sun-
day/Saturday mass for a minimum of 12
months prior to approaching the pastor.
Be involved in some way with your par-
ish.
Make your request 3 months in advance.
Applicant must be the one making the
requests. No request will be accepted by
a relative or a parent.
The pastor has to be able to recommend
you and that is only possible if he knows
you at the basic level of regular mass at-
tendance. Personal knowledge of the can-
didate’s faith practice is what the pastor
needs to recommend (not your parents,
grand parents, but yourself as this is a per-
sonal recommendation not a family one.
Choir News-Youth Choir The youth choir continues to rehearse for
the Saturday 5:00 pm mass. All youth,
grades 2 and over are welcome to come to
the St. Francis & St. Claire room on Thurs-
day afternoons from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm. If
you like to sing and attend the Saturday
evening masses, please, drop in and join us!
Books, books, books Please take a moment and bring a book or
two home for yourself or someone who you
think may need it. They are free and we
welcome any donations of funds which will
go to the building fund.
Renovation News The new roof for the Nave is now complete
and the barrier free parking area at the north
end of the building is again open for your
use. We have also completed the installation
of the new roof top heating/air conditioning
unit for the Rectory, and the new exhaust
system for our basement washrooms is also
now operational. Next up will be the re-
instatement of the ceilings in the Nave, un-
der the Balcony, the North and South stair-
wells, and the ceiling in the hallway next to
the washrooms in the basement. Contracts
for this work are being finalized and more
information will be provided as we get
closer to the start date.
DONATION OF MATERIALS FOR
CONSTRUCTION NEEDED. We are moving forward with plans to re-
install the ceilings once the roofing work is
complete. In order to meet building code,
we will need to use 2 layers of 5/8 inch type
-X gypsum wallboard in these areas.
Marygrove Collection The annual collection for Marygrove girls
camp is this weekend.
Marygrove Camp is a residential camp
situated on 39 acres of beautifully treed
grounds and a quarter mile of Georgian
Bay waterfront, near Penetang, Ontario.
The camp is open to eligible girls, ages 5
– 13, and provides an 8-day camping ex-
perience to over 1,000 children who may
not otherwise have the opportunity to en-
joy a camping adventure. Families experi-
encing financial or domestic hardship
may contact the Society to determine their
eligibility. Each camper's holiday is fully
subsidized through the generous support
of this collection in all parishes through-
out the Archdiocese.
For more information please visit svdpto-
ronto.org.
Attention Parents Parents who have children in grade one and grade seven and attend our parish Schools (St. Jude’s and St. Simon’s Schools), as well as Public or Private Schools and are planning to request either First Holy Communion or Confirmation Next Year, please be aware that previous membership in the parish is mandatory. Membership in the parish must include participation in the life of the Church at the basic level which is includes: Regu-lar attendance to Sunday Mass, formal regis-tration in the parish and regular use of offer-tory envelopes making your support known. This is an expectation, as per Sacramental Norms in the Archdiocese of Toronto. Therefore, those living outside of the parish boundaries who are not formally members of the parish by choice (see above), will be advised to request the sacraments for their children at the parish they belong to.
Please be aware that the parish will publish infor-mation regarding these sacraments in the Sum-mer.
Baptism Previous membership in the parish and regular attendance at Sunday (Saturday vigil at 5pm in-cluded) Mass will be expected from anyone seek-ing to baptize a child. Membership includes not only attendance at mass regularly, but the use of offertory envelopes. If you are new to the parish you will be expected to first establish your relationship with our parish. It is time for us at St. Jude’s to expect the same level of commitment that is given by those who seem to always carry the responsibilities of our parish community. The gifts of the Church depend on both rights and obligations and personal relationship with one’s parish and fair share of the responsibilities is to be expected.
Do you wish to become a catholic? Are you:
Non-baptized and have a desire to learn more about the Catholic faith with the intention of converting?
Baptized as a Christian in a different denomina-tion (religion) and seek full reception (membership) in the Roman Catholic Church?
Baptized in the Catholic faith but never receive faith instructions as a child, made first com-munion and received Confirmation?
The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) is the place for you. Every year adults are wel-comed/received/baptized into the Catholic Com-munity through RCIA. If you or someone you know is interested in the RCIA program please call the parish office and leave your name and phone number or pick up an RCIA Inquiry form at the parish office.
We ask parishioners who would be willing to make donations in kind to consider helping us with donations of the above material and possibly the tape and mud compound. Pease call the office.
