WEEKDAY MASS SCHEDULE
Eucharistic Adoration: Please note that Adoration at all 3 parishes is on hold for the
summer and will resume in the fall. Locations and times will be announced in future bulletins.
Family of Parishes News Update: There’s more to being a family than meets the eye! Welcoming new members can be difficult. Some family traditions need to be adjusted along the way, while others are changed. Personalities can often create difficulties which seem insurmountable! Jesus is the light of our lives and all that we say and do must be through the lens of His example if we are to transform the world!
Thank You: Your Pastor and Associate Pastor, along with the
Deacon and Pastoral Ministers are very appreciative of the warm supportive welcome that we have received. The number of people at Mass and the participation in prayer and song are outstanding. Thank you!
Sunday Offertory: A reminder that all offertory envelopes and pre-authorized debit donations will remain with your home parish. Loose donations stay in the church where they were given.
Spiritual Focus: The Parish Team, along with the Parish Pastoral Council are focused on providing the best service to the parishioners of the LaSalle River Canard Catholic Family of Parishes. The mandate of the PPC is to create a Pastoral Plan that will help us to put the spiritual needs of our family first and foremost on the list of priorities. As we all make adjustments, your patience, understanding and prayers are requested.
Family of Parishes News Update
Money Matters: The chairs of the three Finance Committees, Buildings & Grounds Committees and the secretaries met with the
two priests this past week to discuss moving forward with the various projects that are pending in all three of our church buildings. A formula for cost-sharing of salaries is now in place for the clergy and Pastoral Ministers.
Recognizing that the spiritual care of our family is our first priority, the Transition Team recommended the possibility of hiring an additional Pastoral Minister who would be responsible for Sacramental preparation. This was also discussed with the Finance Chairs. This recommendation has been accepted pending a review of our finances. The current Pastoral employees chose the ministry that they felt best suited to accomplish. Rebecca Bondy will move into the role of Parish Life Coordinator and Lisa Mullins will become the Family & Youth Coordinator. Further information about the possibility of a new position will be forthcoming.
Pre-Authorized Donations: Please consider signing up for Pre-Authorized Debit to ensure that
your weekly donation still goes to support your home parish, even if you occasionally attend Mass at another church. Tax receipts are still automatically given at the end of the year. Please call the parish office for more information.
Parish Records: You can assist us in keeping our parish records up to date by advising the parish office if you move or have a new phone number.
Hospital Visits: Contact the office should you desire a visit while in the hospital. Emergencies should be directed to the chaplain assigned at the hospital. Of course, the anointing of the sick can be administered upon request.
RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults): A very important process of educating adults who are seeking to join the Catholic Church or who desire to complete the Sacraments of Initiation will be offered in our family this fall. A team of parishioners from different walks of life share the truths of our faith and their insights into various topics that are presented. The RCIA gatherings will be offered on Tuesday evenings (usually every second Tuesday, except before Easter when the gatherings are weekly). We will share this journey of faith at St. Joseph Church in the parish hall (basement) from 7 – 9 pm. Registration forms are available on line or can be requested from the parish office.
Parish Offices: The current office locations remain open, with the staff continuing to serve the communities on the same days and with the same hours of work as established at present.
Child-friendly Community: The presence of babies, toddlers and children is an essential sign of life in our parish.
Please offer words of welcome and encouragement to young families attending Sunday Mass. Parents, if you feel the need to step out during Mass, feel free to do so, but please come back when the time is right.
Parish Office: It is increasingly evident that creating a collaborative team to serve the Family of Parishes will require that the whole parish team works together. Discussion took place
regarding the centralization of the offices which will render working as a team a blessing. There would be costs involved in the modification of each of the current locations. That factor was seriously considered so as to not impose unnecessary additional costs to any one of our parishes. A decision will soon be rendered and then communicated to everyone.
Year of Prayer
Pentecost 2019 – Pentecost 2020
The Diocese of London:
Being a mission-oriented Church
that forms disciples of Jesus.
Send forth your Spirit, O Lord,
and fill the hearts of your people
with an ardent desire to follow Jesus,
to be his missionary disciples.
Fill us with joy and a desire to know your word.
May we boldly proclaim the Good News
to others; for when we help others
to know that God loves them,
they will know true happiness.
Fill us with a deep desire
for the Eucharist.
May we recognize Jesus
in the proclamation of the Scriptures
and in the Breaking of the Bread;
for when we are united with Jesus,
joy is constantly born anew.
Fill us with a true love of neighbour.
May we seek opportunities for reconciliation
and with big hearts serve those in need;
for in serving them,
we know we are serving your Son
With the help of the Holy Spirit,
may we commit ourselves to loving you
and doing your will.
We make this prayer
through Christ our Lord. Amen.

LIFT: Our high school youth program is preparing to wind down for the summer. There is one more regular night to take place next Tuesday at 7:00pm, before our summer BBQ on Tuesday, July 30th! If you haven’t been a part of LIFT this year, we invite you to come out
and join the fun! For more details regarding time and location, call the office.
Office closed: The parish office will be closed this week while Ruth is on vacation. Please call St. Joseph’s parish office for anything you may need this week.
Holy Cross students entering Grade 2 or Grade 7: Please make sure to pick up the information that can be found at
the entrance of any of the parishes. Parents are urged to mark these meetings in their calendars. Non-attendance at the meetings will cause the deferral of the reception of the sacraments until the following year. Much effort and preparation is being done so as to better prepare the children and their families to celebrate these sacraments.
Sacristans: We are looking for someone (or 2 or 3 volunteers) to help with the setting up and
cleaning up for the weekend Masses (sacristan). This person(s) would be responsible for opening
up the church, setting up for Mass, cleaning up after Mass and locking the doors. We will teach you
what you need to know! More hands make light work and you would be put on a rotating schedule. If you
are interested please contact the parish office.
St. Paul’s CWL: During our busy summer let us not forget to pray the Diocese of London’s Year of Prayer. During this Year of Prayer, we pray that the Holy Spirit, whom we received at our Baptism, will renew us, transform us and help each of us to be missionary disciple of Jesus. July 30th is Human Trafficking Awareness Day. The CWL will meet at On Route Service Center on the 401 in Tilbury at 9:20 a.m. Anyone interested in finding out more about the CWL can call Louise at (519) 978-9962.

Vocation Corner: Did you know that the word vocation is related to the term “vocal cords” and means “a
calling”? More precisely it means spending your life doing what your innermost heart feels called to do. To follow a vocation means living your own unique life. Pray to God for his guidance to led you into a life full of faith and happiness.
Mum Sales begin next weekend. Beautiful 10’ pots come in 4 colours and are $10 each payable by cash or cheque (payable to St. Joseph Parish). Delivery is expected in early September.
SSVP: In this Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus affirms that to be a disciple we must also sit at his feet and listen to him. St. Vincent de Paul taught that it is only in prayer that we can give selfless loving service to those who are poor. This week, please say a special prayer each day for the poor and forgotten in our parish.
