Dear Friends of St. Joe's: Welcome to St. Joe's and to The Lights of Manhattan Lasallian Gala and Dinner Auction 2013! Although we may be at opposite ends geographically, we certainly do appreciate our down state neighbors! We are very pleased that you are able to join us this evening as we celebrate our cultural connection to the big city, while we again celebrate St. Joe's past, present, and future and our unique place in Western New York. Thank you so very much for your presence tonight! There is no doubt that the Lasallian Gala & Auction continues to be a most important event for everyone in our St. Joe's community. Our parents, alumni, faculty, staff, students and friends come together to help raise funds for student financial support: As always, every dollar raised tonight will be dedicated to assisting families who may not otherwise be able to attend St. Joe's. Our Founder, St. John Baptist de La Salle, was moved by the plight of the poor and he used his talents in education to serve the children who were often left to themselves and badly brought up. Presently, we are challenged with the economics of our own community, with many young people marginalized and underserved, especially in the area of quality education. The challenge for St. Joe's is to make our school and its premier Lasallian education accessible to all qualified candidates. It is our continuing hope that, with your help, we will be able to continue to offer the financial support necessary to assist our students whose gifts and talents are various and limitless the scholar, the athlete, the artist or club participant and often, the combination of all of these! Our goal remains to welcome every student into our community of excellence, and challenge and inspire them throughout their four years at St. Joe's. Your support this evening will assure that we carry forward with our mission in preparing our young men, not only for college, but for life! Tonight, I thank each of you for helping to make this possible. I sincerely hope you have a wonderful evening and invite you to explore and bid bid like a New Yorker on all of the fantastic gifts that have been donated. While you do so, please also take a look around the school you will notice young men selling raffle tickets, playing in the Jazz Lab Band, and serving a delicious meal from Oliver's. Young men like these minimally 7 out of every 10 of our students who receive financial assistance of some kind are why we are all here tonight supporting the efforts of the 2013 Lasallian Gala & Auction. Finally, take the occasion to patronize and thank the individuals and businesses who have contributed their advertisement, patronage, and services to our catalog and Auction. We are most grateful for their support. Sincerely, and with every best wish for you and your family,

    Robert T. Scott, AFSCPresident

special thank-you from chair couple bOb '75 & SUE kREppEL

It has been a great honor to chair the 2013 Lasallian. We have been overwhelmed by the tremendous outpouring of support of so many friends of St. Joe's. We have witnessed it all, the generosity of the donors, the students hard at work, and the tireless efforts of so many to make

this a special night for a very special cause.

Lastly, a thank you to our parents Ned and Barb Hourihan, and Norb and Pat Kreppel. Catholic education was a real stretch for our families, but no sacrifice was too big for them. our dads worked extra hours, and our moms were both working moms before the term working moms even existed! Their hard work and tireless sacrifices made a Neumann education available to Sue, and a St Joe's education available to Bob. We are still grateful!
