Boys Soccer: The Wildcats finished the season with an outstanding performance at the sectional tournament. The boys dominated Lawrence Central 4-1 in the opening round, getting a hat trick from senior Ivan Felix. In the second round against Warren Central, Colm Onceacre got a shot past the goalie with 9 minutes to play, and LN goal keeper Marco Valdez was rock solid the rest of the way, stopping a penalty kick with just over a minute to play to secure the win for the Cats. In the championship game against Cathedral, the game ended in regulation in a 0-0 tie. There was no score after one OT period. In the second OT with 2 minutes left, Cathedral scored a goal on a rebound shot that ended the season for the Cats. The boys played their hearts out and represented Lawrence North very well. Great job, Wildcats! Pictures courtesy of Kathy Onceacre.

Girls Soccer: The Wildcats had an outstanding sectional tournament, defending the home turf and winning their third straight IHSAA championship! The Cats beat LC 1-1 (5-4 PK’s) in dramatic fashion in the first round. Ellie Bisard got LN on the board with a goal in the first half, but LC answered late in the game to tie it up 1-1. After no scoring in the OT period, the game went to penalty kicks and the Wildcats won 5-4 to advance. The second game against Warren Central was a little less dramatic, with LN defeating the Warriors 8-0. Goals were scored by Lydia Griffith (3), Ellie Bisard (2), Princess Magadan (2), and Tionna Thompson. In the championship game against Roncalli, the Cats got up 2-0 on goals by Princess Magadan, but Roncalli came back with a goal at the 16 minute mark and again with just a minute left in regulation to tie it up 2-2 and send the game into overtime. After no scoring in the OT period, the championship came down to PK’s. Our Cats scored on all chances while the Rebels missed two goals, securing the title for the Wildcats, 4 goals to 2. The team heads to New Palestine for a 12:00pm contest against the Carmel Greyhounds. Good luck ladies!

Volleyball: The Wildcats picked up wins over MIC rivals North Central and Pike to finish the MIC conference season at 6-1, good enough for a runner-up finish. The Cats then proceeded to win their own 9-team invitational on Saturday, a great way to finish the regular season! The team definitely has some momentum going into the IHSAA sectional tournament this week. The Cats open up against Warren Central on Thursday at 6:00pm at Lawrence Central. The winner will play the host Bears on Saturday morning at 11:00am, with the championship game later that night at 7:00pm. Thank you seniors Mickayla Haemmerle, Charity McDowell, Bethany Dayton, and Ashlee Goodpaster for all your hard work over the last four years! Good luck in the sectional ladies!
