Dear SKIA,
I am writing this
intro after almost 4
weeks out of the
office, out of the
country. I have gone
through the most
intense and biggest
conferences in the
AIESEC network
with my Slovak
delegation- Thaís,
Lexie, Kubo and
Zuzka. I can tell you
we are bringing
many
cooperations, new
strategies, contacts,
inputs, ideas and
most of all fresh
energy to do more
and break all the
limits SKIA is
fighting with.
August was a
month of last
preparation, I dare
to say. We finalized
our recruitment, we
finalized Educate
Slovakia
September round
we prepared for
newies and are
ready to go for
one of the
busiest periods
of the term. I
wish all of you
good luck, lot of
energy from a
really hot and
sunny summer
and me and MC
Shockwave are
looking forward
to seeing you all
on Energize.

ILLUSTRATED MONTHLY NEWSPAPER
The presidents‘ times
Zuzka, LC BA: For EBmotions the summer was too faaaaast
:((. 5 of us were living together at dormitories
so sometimes we spent the whole days
together but still withou ponorka :D. Morover
we had 23 interns at that domritory so they
created a great international surrounding.
The whole EB was working on strategical
stuff needed for our term - selling
partenrships, creating our budget, new
PAM system, preparing recruitment, etc.
Actually in august we met really just in small EB groups, because
most of us went for some holidays, I was for IC so we did not
manage to be so often together as in July when we had a lot of
funny teambuldings :D. The current situation in our LC is that
everybody is waiting for the arrival of our leadershipbody from
abroad and new members to they create a TRUE LC
ATMOSPHERE :)
LCPs summer sharing
Jakub, LC CU:
A summer proved as a challenging time
for us, with most of the membership and
teamleaders gone on vacation. Even EB
members had other obligations from
time to time, making it difficult to meet
all of us together sometimes, resulting in
meetings where 1 person was missing
most of the time. Despite these
drawbacks we managed to keep our focus on the strategical stuff for
which summer is the best, such as redesigning of our R'n'R systems,
knowledge management and process optimalization. The summer is over
now and we're finally working together again prepared to nail this
recruitment.
Baška, LC NR:
Well, our EB summer was really cool,
especially our EB flat with Barbarian
bathroom During summer we had
1st LC visit with lady Marinič, we went
to CEC, we lost our VP PR, we had
CEEDer from Cairo & lot of crazy
funny moments We did lot of work
and now we are doing our best
to prepare super cool RCTM
and get some awesome newbies.
See u all soon! B.
Noro a.k.a. Magic Moon, LC BB:
This summer was really cool! Maybe it started
with some complications as two VPs finnished
their EB journey 1.7.2013 what wasn't really best
start of summer I can think of. Then Nika joined
our UNIQUE team, what was and will be the last
change in EB structure. Those changes influenced
our first month the most, but we were finally
able to start work properly on inovations and
processes we wanted to.
In August we created new JD & working system
mainly for oldies, we changed compendium totally
mainly old stuff which didn't even make sense after
8 years, we prepared recruit and also ALUMNI
weekend which will be at the end of septembre.
So that was our summer and we are looking forward to implement all the stuff.
Siska, LC TT:
This summer was the most challenging
period in my life- it showed me, however
well are you prepared and however good
is your plan, the reality is always
different. After our VP FIN left, I
recieved an e-mail from VP OGP, that he
has to go too, so now it´s only 4 VPs and
me left. I realized, how difficult is to be
everywhere- the result is, that you´re
nowhere :) . But things are finally starting
to move, so we´re ready to make an
awesome rctm and to do our best during
the autumn period!
Baška, IG PO:
Summer was quite challenging period
for us since newly created
EB of Preshow did not have chance
to fully spend it together. We were
meeting on our planning days,
transition days,LC visit day and
training&teambuilding cottage though.
So, we managed to plan (almost)
the whole RCTM, started to work
on LIC, and, generally, prepared
ourselves for new members in
summer :) But what is more, we spent
time together as team, as Preshow first
EB in its history ;)

IC delegation sharing
Lucka, MCP:
„IC 2013 was a crazy experience in a country going through
a revolution, fighting through its youth for a better future.
This context shaped the conference as well, since in these times
a question of leadership has become even more urgent.
IC was full of conversations, powerful decisions, people,
learnings and realizations and for me one of the most
memorable conferences in my AIESEC career.“
Zuzka, LC BA:
„This conference was the second international conference
for me. If I should compare it with EuroXpro, the IC
agenda was sometimes repetitive from EuroXpro and
more relevant for not so developed AIESECs, but for
networking and reciveing GCPs IC was betteer a lot. I
have created contacts which I hope will not last just for
AIESEC times but also longer. IC was also great at the
fact the all facis were AI members so for the conclusion
IC was an unique unforgottable experience. “
Jakub, LC CU:
„IC 2013 had a potential to be one of the best conferences
that I ever visited. Poor organization, local disturbances,
repetitiveness of the content and a rather everpresent
feeling of "unfinished" however kept this conference from
reaching it's potential. Maybe the amazing EuroXpro 2013
spoiled me a bit, but I can not say that I was satisfied by
this conference. Not lingering on the negative though, being
able to meet 800 people from over 120 countries certainly
left an impression on me. I enjoyed several conversations and I'm definitely
coming back enriched with contacts I otherwise would've find harder to
acquire. However if I had to advise any future LCP left in the situation
where he/she has to choose between EuroXpro and IC, I would definitely
suggest EuroXpro as a conference more relevant for LCPs both in terms of
the content and timing.“
My leadership story... My leadership story started few years ago. Interesting fact – it was not in AIESEC My first
leadership experience comes from scouting when I was (15 -16) and I became „ an advisor“
a.k.a. teamleader of group of 5 girls. I don’t know if you know the organization, so just in
few words – its ambition is the overal development of children and young people (in all
aspects of the personality). Probably this was the experience that made me come to
AIESEC, and even more important – made me stay.
I joined AIESEC 2 and half years ago. By chance. I just came back from Strasbourg, my
semester abroad. I’ve always been andventurous and willing to travel, so I came to
infomeeting to get some information about internships. And out of nothing I just filled in
the application form for membership. I came to the assessment, then to the interview. And
I’ve passed
I started as ICP member, and truly - it wasn‘t exactly what I had expected. To be absolutely
honest I have to admit that I was thinking about leaving the organization. BUT then the
challenge came. I got offer to became an OGP teamleader. And my inner adventurer took
the control, I got transition and one month later also 4 scared newbies. Together, we
became the best team in AIESEC Skia for 2011/2012. What is more important – I found
out that this was „it“. My „it“ what I can do, what I want to do, what can I offer. Thanks to
the base that I had from scouting, learning point that I took from my poor ICP carrer and
motivation from my own OGP team, I found my new passion – leadership.
After my teamleader experience I became VP OGP and currently I am LCP of AIESEC Nitra.
More than 2 years I am in leadership positions, and I still love it. But don’t get my wrong –
it’s not so easy all the time. I still have some days when I am demotivated, even frustrated,
when the things go just wrong and I am asking myself „WTF??!! Is this really what I want
to do?“.
The truth is - being a leader sucks sometimes – and not because of many duties and
responsibility. In my case it was mostly because of learning – to let go, to admit when
you fuck something up, to accept when not everything is how you want. First point when
I really felt as a leader was a moment when I realized that I am totally not the leader
I want to be. This moment was the most important while in my leadership experience.
I defined the leader, or better – person I want to become, and since then I am working
on it – (not)suprisingly, it works!! And now I can say – accepting the „uncomfortable“
makes us better – it gives you opportunity to become the higher standard of yourself .
Well, as opposites to the bad days - there are days when EPs get home from great internship,
some super cool meetings are happening, or I just come at our office make some coffee
and talk with our members. Those are simply good days. When you can see the results of
your trying, you clearly see the relevance of AIESEC and importance of our actions.
But for me it’s not those days, what keeps me dedicated to the organization, neither
importance of our activities. It’s people. My team, the most. People around who share
my values and my vision. People who are working hard and party as crazy. People who
motivate me, inspire me, eventually make me mad, but also proud; people who turn my
worst days into the greatest.
AIESEC is constantly challenging organization, it pushes you forward and it’s good. Cause
thanks to that you can achieve things you would never dream about, it gives you space to
develop your talents and it teaches you how to eliminate your weaknesses. For me,
AIESEC is now a lot more than an organization where I belong - it’s helping me to grow,
to become a person I want to be. AIESEC is my lighthouse for finding the way how can
I achieve my ambitions.
