When the pressures of recessionMake us concentrate on greed,

Take heed, a worthy MasonCares about another’s needs;

Don’t let pressures of the momentMake your obligation sway,

Stop and help a fallen brotherOr another by the way;

What you give is like a bubbleWhenever you assist,

What it costs in time and troubleIs, soon after, never missed;

Brother, bear that obligationYou accepted on your knee,

It’s in direct relationTo your own security;

Never hesitate, my brotherSquare your actions now and say,

“I’ll remember I’m a Mason,“And behave like that today;”

“With regard to human kindnessAnd the ‘Golden Rule’, I pray,I’ll remember I’m a Mason...And behave like that today.”

REMEMBER YOU’RE A MASON

“Riteing Our Order”

Greetings to all the Fraters of L.D. Easton Consistory No. 21!I want to begin by thanking the Almighty Grand Architect of the Universe for His many blessings upon myself, family, and our beloved Rite. Secondly, I want to thank all the Fraters of L.D. Easton for the tremendous honor of electing me the Illustrious

Commander-in-Chief for the 2011 fraternal year. I promise the Fraters my sincere effort and hard work this year to help move our Consistory forward.

Greatness is not easily achieved, but can be obtained through leadership, vision, and diligence. No one exemplifies these qualities more than the members of our Consistory. Fraters of L.D. Easton have been extremely supportive of the Consistory these past few years and I hope to grow this participation. I want to thank all of our Illustrious Sirs, Past Commanders-in-Chief, and senior brethren for their leadership and for being the pillars upon which our Consistory rests.

I also would like to further engage our newer Sublime Princes to be as active as possible in our Consistory. This can only happen if clear designs are drawn upon the Trestle Board, and those designs are turned into action. I look forward to working with all of our new Fraters this year.

The program for the Consistory this year will build upon a simple four point platform. The purpose of this platform is to build upon the solid foundation left by Past Commanders-in-Chief Gary McKinley and Reginald Oliver. For 2011, these four points will be in the areas of: 1) Ritualistic Proficiency and Degree Education; 2) Fundraising; 3) Community Service; and 4) Administrative Effectiveness. The specifics of these goals are detailed in the following pages. For 2011, I have chosen the theme “Riteing Our Order!” Our key focus for 2011 must be returning to the basics that made L.D. Easton so great. This will take the hard work and participation of each of us to accomplish these goals, but I feel confident that we will be successful. I ask for your support for this year as we take L.D. Easton to greater heights.

Fraternally,

S.P. Eugene W. Greenfield, 32°Illustrious Commander-in-ChiefL.D. Easton Consistory No. 21

Ritualistic Proficiency and Degree Education

The goal of any Masonic House is to do “good work.” This especially holds true for the Consis-tory. This year, it is the goal of L.D. Easton to become proficient in three particular and crucial pieces of work. They are the funeral ceremony, the second section of the 20th degree, and the 32nd degree. Cast have been made for each of these degrees and practices will take place be-fore regular Consistory meetings and other various times. I believe these degrees are fundamen-tal to the Consistory and I want to commit them to being performed with the level of proficiency that they are due.

Fundraising

Our fundraising event for the year will be our annual Spring Fish Fry. The fish fry will take place in March. The Consistory must be focused on making this event a success as it will be our only scheduled fund raiser of the year. The Consistory will however look at other fundraising opportunities throughout the year.

Community Service

L.D. Easton will adopt FCI Academy High School in Columbus, Ohio this year to comply with the “adopt a school” initiative of our Sovereign Grand Commander, The Honorable Solomon Wallace, 33°. L.D. Easton will host two workshops this year (February and September) for FCI Academy students focusing on college financial aid and preparation.

Administrative Effectiveness

Lastly, we must be operating effectively in order to carry out the business of the Consistory. One area we are currently doing well in is the accurate account of our finances. Thanks to the Grand Architect of the Universe, L.D. Easton is blessed to have two outstanding fiscal officers in the persons of G.I.G. George Smith, Sr., 33° and G.I.G. Rollin Kelley, Jr., 33°.

However, there are two major impediments which keep our Consistory from moving forward. The first is an accurate and up-to-date Consistory roster. Without this, the Consistory can not easily access it membership to encourage and solicit more support. The second is an active telephone committee. Two of our top goals this year will be to see that our rooster is cleaned up and that our telephone committee is reestablished. In addition, the Consistory will work hard this year to improve its communication to all Fraters using a variety of different methods. These methods will be way of a phone committee, official letters, auto calls, email listserv, newsletters, and a simple Consistory website.
