Survey of Seed Oils for use as Diesel fuel

Piyaporn Kalayasiri, Narumon Jeyashoke and Kanit Krisnangkura

School of Bioresorce and Technology, King Mongkut' s Institute of Technology,

Bangkok 10140

Abstract

Sixty four out of 346 plant seeds being sutveyed had fatty acid

content higher than 15% and their methyl esters had cetane indices higher than 50.

Thus these plant seeds have great potential for development for oils for uses as

diesel fuel or diesel fuel extender.
