Special Education Assessments
• VAAP will include a writing component for grades 5, 8, and 11.
• VGLA-IEP teams must continue rigorous scrutiny of multiple choice and alternate format work samples to justify use of VGLA. Work samples must be retained with IEP in student file.
• VMAST will be field tested in 2010-2011 and available for mathematics grades 3-8 and Algebra 1 in 2011-2012.
• All assessments will incorporate 2008 Social Studies standards.

World Languages Assessments
• Common Assessments in German, French, Spanish and Latin: Level 1 assessments were administered in June 2010. Level 2 assessments were field tested in June 2010 and revised. Levels 1 and 2 will be ready to administer in June 2011.
• The Jr. PALS performance assessments will be administered to all immersion students in grades 3 and 6. Jr. PALS will not be administered in grades 2 and 4 this year. The FLES Jr. PALS field tests will continue in grades 3 and 6.

• Elementary Art Program of Studies is located in eCART. The new curriculum emphasizes planning art works before beginning production, making artworks about big ideas, and reflecting on artmaking as part of every lesson.

Students must score at the pass advanced level. There are no changes to the other criteria.

• Common Assessments in German, French, Spanish and Latin: Level 1 assessments were completed and administered in June 2010. Level 2 assessments were field tested in June 2010 and revised. Levels 1 and 2 will be ready to administer in June 2011.

Fine Arts Secondary Curriculum Revisions
• The Computer Graphics and Photography Programs of Studies have been revised. Drafts will be posted in FCPS 24-7 and distributed to all high school art teachers before the beginning of school.
• The Middle School Art Program of Studies has been revised. A draft will be distributed to all middle school art teachers at the December 10 training session for use in the second semester.

• The Junior Achievement (JA) Finance Park curriculum will be taught in all middle schools this year. This curriculum is integrated with mathematics and civics.
