A specialist program created to support people currently in or moving towards a role in Leisure and Health.

This program has been created to enable participants to gain a current theoretical understanding and practical application of underpinning concepts for lifestyle, health and leisure as it is expected by clients and other stakeholders to be delivered.

Participants will learn how to successfully develop and implement new programs in a competitive market where expectations in service delivery are intensifying. They will further develop their leadership skills, enabling them to bring the latest thinking in lifestyle, health and leisure to the organisation through the encouragement of every team member across the organisation to engage them in creating a positive experience for the client as part of each daily activity.

Program contentParticipants learn in interactive live virtual classes alongside others to engage and support them throughout the program. This will include a combination of class learning, simulations, self-directed learning, coaching days and workplace assessment. Qualification Description & Practical Experience Requirement Source: training.gov.au

This qualification reflects the role of workers with responsibility for designing, implementing and evaluating health and leisure activities, and programs for clients in one or more sector areas. Work may be in residential facilities and/or in community agencies and day centres. Workers work under supervision or as sole practitioners and may be required to plan, coordinate and evaluate other workers and work teams within broad but generally well-defined guidelines. To achieve this qualification, participants must complete at least 240 hours of work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of the units of competency

A. Victorian Government Skills First Program: Must be up-skilling and an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident, holder of a Permanent Visa, or a NZ citizen, not have completed or be enrolled in a total of 2 or more government funded training programs during this year and not have commenced or undertaken more than 2 government subsidised courses at this same qualification level, including this course, in their lifetime. Other criteria applies. Some exceptions to the Skills First Program eligbility criteria apply including, but not limited to;- Latrobe Valley Initiative Program can access an exemption to the upskilling rules for one qualification.- Victorian Government Back to Work Scheme can access an exemption to the upskilling and/or ‘two in a lifetime’ rules. - Asylum Seeker, Refugee and/or Victim of Human Trafficking Scheme can access an exemption to the citizenship/residency requirements.

B. Under the Indigenous Completions Initiative, individuals who self-identify as being of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent must be charged 20% of the Tuition Fee (A) even if they do not hold any of the previously mentioned valid Australian Government issued concession cards. IMPORTANT: The Victorian Government SkillsFirst Program does not provide for Concession Tuition Fees at Diploma level.

Contextualised materialContent is condensed into blocks of like subject matter and that reflects the experience level of each group making the learning meaningful. It’s learning that makes a difference.

Consultative deliveryIn each session, the content will be related back to specific issues that you are dealing with at work right now. Take-Away exercises will help ensure that what you’re learning in each session is immediately useful to you. It’s learning with real-world relevance.

Nurturing and supportYou’ll have a dedicated Program Manager wholly support, coach and mentor you. They’ll also make themselves available between sessions if you get stuck. It’s learning built upon a safety-net of increased confidence and support.

Multi-learning methodologyOur workshop style sessions incorporate a range of activities relevant to your learning including, yoga, mindfulness and other exercises. We ensure that they’re fun. It’s learning by engagement - not by rote, or robots.

This qualification reflects the role of workers with responsibility for designing, implementing and evaluating health and leisure activities, and programs for clients in one or more sector areas. Work may be in residential facilities and/or in community agencies and day centres. Workers work under supervision or as sole practitioners and may be required to plan, coordinate and evaluate other workers and work teams within broad but generally well-defined guidelines.

To achieve this qualification, the candidate must have completed at least 240 hours of work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of the units of competency.

Where participants are unable to demonstrate the required tasks within their workplace as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of the units of competency they will undertake supervised practical placement(s). They will be assessed by a qualified Warner Institute Program Manager (Trainer & Assessor). Warner Institute is responsible for organising and administering any/all supervised placements.

Program delivery and computer & internet requirementsThis program is predominantly delivered as a series of interactive live virtual classes and so participants will require access to a computer or tablet and reliable internet access and capacity to stream video with audio for each timetabled session. This program is delivered as a Part Time Program with sessions scheduled 1 x weekday each 3 weeks across an approximately 17 month period Your interactive live virtual class sessions will be scheduled 9am-5pm.

Workplace ProjectParticipants are encouraged to work with their manager/supervisor to select and undertake a workplace improvement project. This project is undertaken across the duration of the program with the aim that it provides another opportunity for reinforcing newly learned skills and knowledge. Feedback from employers consistently rates the inclusion of this project highly as an effective tool in helping to transition the course content back into the workplace in a practical way. Whilst completion of the Workplace Project is encouraged, it is not essential to attain these nationally accredited qualifications.

Packaging rules, electives, homework and clustered assessmentThis program has been developed in continuous consultation with the Community Services Sector. It has been developed to support employees who are working in aged care or disability settings and who work as part of a team. The packaging rules for these qualifications are:

You will undertake a total of 22 nationally accredited units across 24 full day sessions and in line with the packaging rules for this qualification. The selection of elective units included are based upon industry feedback and are considered necessary to your effective development within the sector. Homework, self-study and independent research of approximately 4-5 hrs a week are required for successful completion of the program. Nationally accredited units are combined (clustered) into blocks of similar subject matter and their content is delivered and assessed together. Learners will only receive competency in any unit within the cluster when they have been assessed as competent for all elements within the cluster.

Credit TransfersWhere you have applied for Credit Transfer(s), and these have been confirmed and approved by Warner Institute, you will be provided with a revised Program Pack (Timetable). Where the program commences before your application is approved by Warner Institute, you will be required to attend all sessions of the program until the approval is granted. All such approvals will be provided in writing. Your Tuition Fee will be adjusted if your participation is being funded under the Skills First Program. There is no reduction in the Tuition Fee for Credit Transfers for Full Fee Participants.

National Criminal History (Police) ChecksAs part of the Australian Government’s ongoing commitment to protect the health, safety and wellbeing of vulnerable aged care recipients, you will be required to provide a current and clear National Criminal History Check where you are undertaking any supervised practical work placement(s) as part of your program in a relevant setting. Your host work placement provider may also require you to sign a Statutory Declaration confirming that you have no international criminal convictions. A current National Criminal History Check must provided to Warner Institute before your enrolment can be finalised.
