Headteacher’s Corner Dear Parents/Carers, I would like to say a huge thankyou to all of the children, staff and families that make Leagrave such a special school. Everyone has worked hard to achieve the very best that they can this term and this was noted by Ofsted. Your compliance with our Covid Safe arrangements and flexibility when we have had to close bubbles at short notice has been very much appreciated. It is likely that these arrangements will continue well into the Spring term, but we will endeavour to keep you updated. You will see from the photos later in the newsletter and the video clips on the website that we have tried to keep some of the Christmas traditions going, while ensuring that bubbles do not mix and that strict hygiene rules are followed. Even Santa made a virtual visit to classrooms! Please enjoy these moments with your children. I am sure that you are all looking forward to a well deserved rest as the festive season begins! On behalf of the Leagrave Staff and Governors, I would like to wish you a happy and safe Christmas. We look forward to seeing all our children back in school on Wednesday 6 th January 2021. Reception Elf Day

Last Friday was Christmas Jumper Day in aid of the MacMillan Nursing Service, as chosen by the school council. It was so lovely to see the children in their

festive jumpers. A big well done to Anthony in Honeybee Class, Ayub in 2MC and Maryam in 6C

who won prizes for their efforts. The best staff jumper was Ms Wells.

We raised an amazing £299.49p

Well done!!

Travelling Abroad During The Christmas Period

We recognise that Christmas is going to be very different this year. Some families may be considering options to travel overseas over the Christmas period.

We would respectfully remind you that if you return from or travel through a country which is on the quarantine list, you should not send your child(ren) back to school until they have completed the required 10 days quarantine period. Home learning and remote support will not be provided by the school over this period of quarantine.

Arrangements for reporting suspected or confirmed cases of COVID-19 during the Christmas holidays

For the first 6 days after the school term has ended, the school has been asked to assist in advising self-isolation and identifying close contacts of any pupils who test positive for coronavirus (COVID-19), having developed symptoms within 48 hours of being in school. This is because they may have been infectious whilst in school.

At Leagrave Primary School, the last day of term is Friday 18th December. The school’s track and trace responsibilities will end on Thursday 24th December.

What we need you to do:

• If your child has been in school up to and including Friday 18th December and develops symptoms between then and Sunday 20th December, please book a test for them online at https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test or by phoning 119 if you are unable to access the internet.

• If the test result is positive, you must email the school on [email protected]

• If your child develops symptoms after Sunday 20th December 2020, you will need to follow NHS and government guidelines, book a test and self-isolate.

• School will inform you via text, up to 24th December, if your child needs to self-isolate because of a positive test result from someone in their bubble. THE SCHOOL WILL ONLY CONTACT YOU VIA TEXT AND WILL NOT BE MAKING INDIVIDUAL PHONE CALLS.

• The school will not be able to take calls or respond to queries. Please check the Luton Borough Council website for further information:

Peanut The ElephantWednesday was a very exciting day, as Peanut the elephant sculpture from Keech Hospice visited the school! The children are keen to raise £1000 for this worthwhile charity in order to design their own elephant sculpture for Leagrave. The first fund raising event (The Sweet Treat Raffle) was organised by the school council and has been hugely successful; we will confirm the total funds raised in January. Thankyou again to all those staff who made donations.
