and join Lealman Intermediate teachers and staff for a

unique evening. You will learn how to support your

child’s MATH concepts with REAL WORLD activities!

Forget cooking dinner, come and enjoy a light meal while

supplies last. Of course, we will have

drawings for prizes, as well.

So lace up your sneakers and be part

of the fun and opportunity to improve

your child’s success!

Box Tops As we wind down, our last submis-sion to Box Tops for Education for

the year was $133.00. Last year we earned over $600 dollars. To get a

jump on next year, PLEASE send in your Box Tops

now. We really need the support of each of those little pink certificates. As I clip and count the certificates for

mailing, I dream about what they are doing to help our students. There are many items that we cannot buy with

school money, but the Box Tops money is ours to spend on the students as we see fit. Please collect and send

them in through the end of the year.

Don't forget to collect them over the summer, too!

March - School Psychologist Says…

Positive connections enrich our lives and our relationships with other people. Connecting with your child does not have to be an elaborate plan or expensive outing. It can be simple, uncomplicated and cost nothing. Here are some ways to connect with your child;

Morning - Start the morning off right by being organized the night before.

During the day - Include a note in your child’s lunchbox or school bag.

Afterschool - ―What did you like best about your day?‖

Evening - Take time to relax together. Read a book, play a game, or enjoy a favorite family show together.

Weekends - They are a perfect time to share family time. Take a walk, go to a park, visit the library, play outside or make some-

thing together. Life is hectic, take time to enjoy.

Meteorite Hunting

We are still in need of some thin, cotton cloth to wrap around our magnets for

meteorite hunt. If you have a few scraps of cotton cloth left over from a home

project, we can sure use them in Mrs. Hunter's Science

class. Thank you!

The Positive Behavior Support (PBS) Team is very pleased with the continued success of so many of our students. As of March 1, we have 56% of our students on the highest level of Gold Card. All of the teams have added an extra incentive for students to go outside during lunch. The criteria varies by grade level, but we are adding to the number of students who earn this privilege daily. We have come to that time of year when students are reaching Gold Card – Day 75! Our first inductees include Ka’Miya Edwards, Keishay Marion, Jaylen Hall, Joey Sisto, Aaron Harp, Destini Ross, Robert Burr, Corinthians Speights, Kenneth Powell, Jayvion Archer, Ryan Smart, Preston Mitchell, Linnea Car-ron, Destiny Rich, Jacob Owen, Amir Candelario and Alina Kobatsky. Our first student to reach Gold Card - Day 100 is Bryce Begraph whose name is in lights on the marquee in front of the school. Look to this column next month for the new Gold Card - Day 75 students. There is still time for all students to reach that Gold Card level. As always, we en-courage parents to review the Cobra Card with students, sign and return them daily.

THANK YOU, JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT

Antaevious Kirkland, a Lealman Intermediate School (LIS) student in Ms. Thomas’s 6th grade class

said he like the Money Matters program presented by Junior Achievement volunteers on March

12th.

“Now I know the difference between negative money (money you owe someone) and positive mon-

ey (money you have). I’d like to have a saving account.” Antaevious is having a birthday this week and he said if

he gets some money, he would consider putting it in a savings account.

The Junior Achievement program provides valuable lesson for students of all ages. We appreciate their commit-

ment to the students of LIS!

LIA DISCOVERY NIGHT— MARCH 25

In the 2015-16 school year as part of the dis-

trict’s plan to personalize learning, Lealman Inno-

vation Academy (LIA), will become the district’s

model school for personalized learning. LIA will

provide a collaborative learning environment for

students in grades 6-12. The successful Lealman

Innovation Academy Student is: a critical thinker,

self-starter, independent learner, collaborator and

a respectful citizen. Key components of the pro-

gram:

Students will have more voice and choice in their learning, with learning tailored to how each student learns best.

Students will collaborate on meaningful pro-jects that require critical thinking, creativity, and communication.

Students will have access to technology, in-cluding options to bring their own digital de-vices to class.

Students will follow a modified dress code.

The new Lealman Innovation

questions about LIA and want to

The Take Stock in Children (TSIC) program is a scholarship and

mentoring program. TSIC is a partnership between Pinellas Edu-

cation Foundation and Pinellas County Schools that provides

Florida Prepaid scholarships and mentors for deserving students.
