West Side English is an innovative and modern school situated in the heart

of downtown Vancouver within minutes of major transit services, some of the best restaurants, and popular shops.

Our teachers are all certified and passionate about teaching International Students. They find it personally gratifying to see how much students learn during their stay with us.

Our classes are small, offering individual, personalized support to our students.

The school is bright with nice furnishings, spacious facilities, free Wi-Fi, a student lounge with vending machines, and a computer room for optimum learning and a very friendly environment.

Our students not only have regular classes, but also engage in extra-curricular activities where they can learn and experience the Canadia culture – with activities such as meet-up groups on Friday afternoons, parties, and pot luck lunches where they share their ethnic food.

ENROLLMENT

All of our courses at West Side are divided into sessions. One session is four weeks long with two classes per day. Typically, students take 2 courses at a time, for a total of 2 lessons per day. 2 morning classes for one lesson, and two afternoon classes of another lesson.

Every level has 16 different topics that are created in a way to encourage students to talk as much as possible in class and provide the modern vocabulary they are bound to encounter. Formal vocabulary as well as street slang will be presented so the students can learn how to speak the way native speakers do.

GRAMMAR COURSES

Our grammar courses are based on Azar textbooks, which set the industry standard for English sentence structure and formation. These courses are designed to give the students the foundation they need to be able to maximize the effectiveness of the vocabulary and expressions learned in the spoken English courses. BUSINESS ENGLISH

Available for West Side levels 5 and up

The business English courses are designed in the same manner as our spoken English courses, but with the added emphasis on business vocabulary and learning various business skills that are needed in the international business environment.

PRONUNCIATION

Available for West Side Levels 1 through 10

Learn to correctly produce English vowel and consonant sounds, word stress,sentence rhythm, and intonation. Our pronunciation course will teach you how your native language affects the way you pronounce, or mispronounce, English words. Here, you can gain the ability to identify, practice, and improve all aspects of English pronunciation, and learn the difference between Canadian, American, or British pronunciation.

SURVIVAL ENGLISH

Available for West Side Levels 1 through 4

Our survival English courses are for students that have only a basic command of the English language and need to focus on the English for their immediate needs in Canada. Topics include:

• Finding an Apartment

• How to Get a Mobile Phone Plan

• Going to a Restaurant

ENGLISH WRITING

Available for West Side levels 3 and up

Our English writing courses will teach you first the main differences between spoken and written English, and then teach you all you need to know to be able to write effectively in different ways, including how to write:

Our writing courses are for anyone who needs to improve their understanding of written English and who wishes to communicate more effectively on paper and Online.

TEST PREPARATION

IELTSAvailable for West Side Levels 4 and up

Our IELTS courses are designed to be able to get the students to improve their IELTS score by 0.5 within a 4-week period. Not only will the student improve the vocabulary needed for the exam, but we will also teach the student exactly what it is the examiner is looking for so the student can get the highest score possible. With IELTS, it is not only what you say, but how you say it!

TOEICAvailable for West Side Levels 4 and up

In addition to IELTS, we also offer TOEIC preparation classes for students who wish to participate in the Test of English for International Communication. Students can register for this course on a month by month basis. Our TOEIC teachers all have many years experience preparing students for this test and have seen their students make significant progress.

CELPIPAvailable for West Side Levels 4 and up

This is a test preparation course which provides both general and academic English language assessment in the four skill areas: listening, speaking, reading, and writing.

CELPIP- G, is suitable for assessing individuals who plan to attend certain post -secondary or employment training programs where functional English language skills are required. CELPIP-A is suitable for assessing individuals who plan to attend certain post-secondary institutions and for assessing individuals. Both tests are done entirely on a computer.

West Side English is offering a program where the whole family can benefit from their stay in Canada. While parents are studying in an adult class, their children will be learning English in a multicultural environment with children from different countries in the same campus as their parents.

Children as young as 3 can come and learn in an environment specially designed for their age group with experienced teachers.

West Side is located at 1155 Robson Street, in the heart of downtown Vancouver, where everything happens!

West Side English has partnered up with Quality Homestay to bring you the best homestay options Vancouver has to offer.

Living with a Canadian family offers international students a unique, authentic experience. Not only will students have the opportunity to practice English daily, but homestay also gives an inside glimpse of a Canadian family. Students will be included in family activities and special occasions.

Host-families are within commuting distance to West Side English School. Your

homestay arrangement will include three meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner), laundry service and internet.

FOREVER YOUNG EXCHANGE PROGRAM

Do you want to learn English and have fun?…..Forever Young is the right exchange program for you.

Forever Young is designed for mature, energetic people aged 55 and over who want to enjoy the beautiful city of Vancouver and learn to speak and write English with a great program.

The Forever Young program will give you English communication skills and independence. It’s like having a survival kit!

With classes in the morning and lots of activities in the afternoon, Forever Young keeps you busy and gives you lots of time to practice your English-speaking skills out in the real world.

Weekends are the best part of the week with all sorts of trips and surprises.

Explore an amazing city, meet new people and learn English. You can’t go wrong with Forever Young at West Side English!
