During the week our Stage 3 students, Miss Parr and Mrs Hurney were given the opportunity to visit the high school and experience the infamous Eddi Woo. This inspirational mathematician collaborated with staff and students and shared his experiences and wisdom in the area of Working Mathematically”. We are such a lucky community to be able to say our students have been given this opportunity. On Thursday we had a visit from our Executive Director, School Performance, Tim McCallum and Director of Educational Leadership, Mr John Millburn. Our students showcased their wonderful skills around technology. It was great to witness the emerging skills that our students will need for their chosen profession in the next fifteen to twenty years. In the last P&C meeting, I discussed the movement of our school staff development day for Term 2. Students will return to school on Monday 29th April. Our Staff development day has been moved to Tuesday 11th June. This means your family can plan an extra long weekend! Our Star Struck group are lucky to have Miss Mollie on board to help them practice and learn their dance and finale for their performance. Thank you to our parents for returning the sizing for the costumes promptly. The white shirt to go under the overalls will be supplied free of charge from the costume company. The girls will need white shoes to compliment their costume. Mrs Hurney will be relieving while I am away early next term. Mrs Datson will be on the Primary class when Mrs Hurney is off class. Enjoy your holidays and please stay safe. Term 1 Week 10

The end of term is very close and this will be the final newsletter for Term 1. During the week our Stage 3 students, Miss Parr and Mrs Hurney were given the opportunity to visit the high school and experience the infamous Eddi Woo. Star Struck Our first rehearsal will be at Broadmeadow on Monday 6th May. More information will be provided through Care Monkey. Easter Eggshibition A reminder that your creations can be brought to school in Week 11. A voting slip will be provided for students and families to vote for their favourite eggshibition on the day. Students have been given a colouring competition. These are to be returned to school by Thursday 11th April. Zone Cross Country Congratulations to all of our students for competing in our school cross country. Students who have been selected to attend the zone carnival have been sent their notes. Mrs Hurney will be attending the day so students will meet Mrs Hurney at Raymond Terrace. Anzac Day Anzac day is held during the school holidays. The march is at dawn in Clarence Town. Students will meet in the Bowling Club carpark prior to the march. Families are welcomed to join our students. A note with further information will be provided through Care Monkey. Students will meet Miss Parr at the Bowling Club at 5:15am. Mother’s Day High Tea/Bingo On Friday 10th May, our staff and students would like to spend the morning with our special mothers and grandmothers to celebrate Mother’s Day. This year we will be running bingo with some wonderful prizes. Naplan Online The National Assessment Program-Literacy and Numeracy is an annual assessment for students in Year 3,5,7 and 9. These assessments are undertaken across the nation, every year, in the second full week of May. The domains tested are reading, writing, language conventions (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and numeracy. The dates for our Year 3 and 5 students are Tuesday 14th through to Thursday 16th May. Friday 17th May will be used for any make up tests that students may miss due to illness. If you have concerns or questions regarding Naplan, please see Mrs Hurney ASAP.

Daylight Savings ENDS This Weekend

EARN & Learn The school is participating in the Woolworth’s Earn and Learn Program. Please collect your stickers and return to school and place in our collection bin. Look out for our photos next week from our Technology Showcase!

Library - Remember your Library Bag on Thursday to protect the books you borrow.

Reptile Park Excursion On Wednesday 22nd May our K-6 students will be attending the Reptile park to complete their Science and Literacy Units on Adaptations and Animals. An online permission form will be on Care Monkey by the end of term. Safety On Wednesday our students worked together in collaborative learning groups. They focused their learning on safety in various places. Road, beach, home and water safety. It was wonderful to see our primary students being excellent leaders.

Relay For Life Thank you to all of our families who supported the Relay for Life. Michaela, Stephanie, Langlan and Lief had a great time with their Box Cars. Great thanks to Miss Parr for your help with the projects.

Athletics Carnival Attached is a menu for what will be available at the Athletics Carnival. No pre-orders, just buy on the day. Parents are to be advised that the infants will finish earlier. Please see Miss Parr at the completion of the rotations if you intend on signing your child out. Students will meet the staff at Raymond Terrace Athletics fields. The Big Vege Crunch On Thursday our students were treated to some wonderful fresh fruit and vegetables to participate in The Big Vege Crunch. Thank you to Woolworth's for the donation of food. Students were able to try some new vegetables.

Easter Raffle Thank you for the kind donations for or Easter raffle. Donations can still be left in the office for next weeks draw. Please return your raffle tickets ASAP. Uniform Survey Thank you to the families who have returned the uniform survey. If you have not done so already, please return your survey by the end of term. Term 2 Canteen We are seeking volunteers for the Term 2 canteen roster. Please complete the attached form and return to school or hand to Sharna Kirkham ASAP. Congratulations to our school canteen on be-ing recognised as a Great Choice healthy School Canteen. Thank you Sharna for your continued efforts in the smooth running of our canteen.
