BUTTE A hill that rises abruptly from a flat area of land, with steep sides and a flat top.

CANYONA deep narrow valley with steep sides often with a stream running through it.

CAPEA point of land that juts out into water.

DESERTAn area of land, usually in very hot climates, that consists only of sand, gravel, or rock with little or no rain.

GULFA large area of sea or ocean partially enclosed by land.

HILLAn area of land, usually rounded in shape, that is higher than the surrounding land but not as high as a mountain.
