– Coordinate national transport policies and infrastructure investments (priority to TEN-T core networks)

– Improve the connection with Russia and neighbouring countries (by making full use of cooperation with NDPTL)

– Facilitate efficient and sustainable passengers and freight transport solutions (green corridors network, intelligent transport systems)

– Increase the role of the Baltic Sea in the transport systems of the Region (motorways of the Sea)

New Financial Framework:•Macro-regional strategies (MRS) in the regulations:

– Common provisions, Art. 14(a)v: Partnership Contracts to take account, where appropriate, of MRS

– Common provisions, Art. 87(c)vi: Relevant OPs to set out their planned interventions to support the Strategy

– ETC regulation, Art. 6(b) allowing transnational programmes to support implementation (TA)

•Importance of integrating macro-regional perspective/cooperation throughout (also for country-specific programmes)-partnership agreements, operational programmes
