PhysicalEducation

PUPIL’S BOOKS

The Pupils’ Books contain texts, which encourage learning through varied motor skill games, adapted to the contents of each unit. Fun facts and links to other bilingual subject areas help pupils to associate what they learn with the world around them. Home challenge activities create a link between school and home and encourage independent and cooperative learning.

Social values are integrated into activities and games to reinforce areas such as equality, cooperation and respect for yourself and others.

All units contain information on how to take care of your health. At the end of each unit is a skills-related task, designed for pupils to reflect on what they have learned and to consolidate knowledge and practices that lead to an active and healthy lifestyle.

54 55

An active and healthy life!

We all need physical activity

1 Look at these pictures carefully and say which activities you normally do.

2 All the players stand in a circle with the same distance between them. They all run around in circle and throw the ball to each other in the opposite direction. The player that lets the ball fall to the ground scores a point. The winner is the player with the lowest number of points.

3 Mark a circuit on the gym floor. The player that has the ball has to run and bounce the ball while he/she tries to catch and touch another player with his/her free hand at the same time. The player that is touched has to take the ball and play the role of chaser to continue the game. As an alternative you can play with more than one chaser and ball.

GAME

26 27

2 Let’s play the “Skipping” game. Two players hold the rope while the other 3 or 4 players jump in to skip one by one. The players have to decide how many times they want to jump together, so it is important that you help each other coordinate the speed and movements before you skip. The players then jump out of the game one by one and two players take a turn at holding the rope and start the game again.

1 Let’s play “Order on the bench”. Make a group of eight players and stand on a bench. Ask each other when your birthdays are and order yourselves from 1 to 8 depending on when you were born without getting off the bench. Then, order yourselves from the shortest to the tallest. If there are both boys and girls in your class, play a third time and organize yourselves to make a line of boy, girl, boy, girl.
