From the Teachers Development Group Transforming Mathematics Leadership Professional Learning Cluster Choose one of the following two strands:

strand one Connect to your own work as a professional development (PD) provider while you dig deeper into the work of designing and facilitating mathematics PD:

★ Engage with other leaders in continuing to examine effective mathematics PD

★ Use artifacts from your own PD work to consider issues specific to your context

★ Expand your understanding of critical issues in mathematics PD and strategies for addressing those issues

strand two Learn to use LLMPD to support leader learning:

★ Gain understanding of the structure, scope, and intent of the LLMPD materials

★ Explore strategies for supporting the devel-opment of other leaders’ PD practices

★ Examine critical issues in mathematics PD and how the LLMPD materials can be used to help leaders address those issues (each participant in Strand Two will receive a copy of the LLMPD materials - $200 value)

PARTICIPANTSstrand one Leaders who participated in either the LLMPD institute in Portland during May 2008 or two or more LLMPD sessions in another setting

strand two Leaders who (a) have responsi-bility for preparing other leaders of mathematics PD, and (b) participated in either the LLMPD institute in Portland during May 2008 or two or more LLMPD sessions in another setting

INSTITuTE LEADERScathy carroll and judy mumme, co-authors of Learning to Lead Mathematics Pro-fessional Development (LLMPD), are nationally recognized leaders in math education. They are engaged in a number of professional and leader-ship development projects at WestEd, including the NSF project, Researching Mathematics Leader Learning. Their experience in leadership devel-opment totals over 30 years.

strand two$785 if payment or PO is received by July 23, 2008; $845 if received after July 23

Fees include continental breakfasts on Sept. 9-ll, lunches on Sept. 9-10, and all materials. Participants are responsible for all dinners, lodging, and travel. Strand Two participants receive a copy of the Facilitator’s Guide and DVD, Learning to Lead Mathematics Profes-sional Development (Carroll & Mumme, 2007).
