Chapter 4Register LearningGuide Manager

In order to use LearningGuide Manager, you have to register the software first. For registration,a license file (.lic) is required. LearningGuide Manager recognises the following two types of licensefiles:- Single: per license file, where only one user can use LearningGuide Manager at a time.- Multiple: per license file, where multiple users can use LearningGuide Manager at the same

time.

Using the license file

Depending on the type of license file you use: single or multiple, choose one of the followingpossibilities:

Multiple license file, for multiple users (simultaneously)When using the license file, the following needs to be considered:- The license file has to be accessible by LearningGuide Manager at all times.- You need read and write access to the license file.

One single license file, for one user

Situation: you have one single license file and one LearningGuide Manager user.

File location: If every user has their own license file, they can choose where to store the file. Thiscan be on a local or network drive.

If you use a laptop, it is wise to save the license file on the local drive. Therefore if you have

no network connection, you can still use LearningGuide Manager.

One single license file, for multiple users (not simultaneously)

Situation: you have one single license file and two or more LearningGuide Manager users who donot use the application at the same time.

1-17

File location: the license file can be placed on a network drive.

After selecting and registering the license file, multiple users can use LearningGuide Manager, however, not simultaneously. If the license file is already in use by someone, the following messagewill appear: You have Reached the maximum, of concurrent users for this license. Please try again

later when another user has stopped using the application.(32). Refer to Trouble Shoot - registeringlicense for further information on this message.

You can also place the license file on a local drive. However, if you want to use the license

on another computer, you first need to deactivate the license, and then move it to the other

computer. Refer to deactivating/moving license .

One multiple license file, multiple users (simultaneously)

Situation: you have a multiple license file and multiple LearningGuide Manager users who haveto use the application simultaneously.

File location: the license file needs to be placed on a network drive.

The user file is not related to the license file. A user file can be used with different licenses. You cancreate as many user files as you want. It is recommended that you only create one user file peruser.

Every user file has a unique-id. Creating two user files for the same person will result in two

id's. LearningGuide Manager will then identify the user as two different users.

Instead of creating two user files, you can copy the user file to another location. For example

one copy to be placed on your laptop and one copy on the network when working from

another computer.
