Close Up Magic is one of the most popular and impressive forms of the art, and this unique event showcases some of the best exponents direct from the sell-out shows at The Magic Circle. Audiences get to experience

the magic in an intimate setting, often taking part themselves. Prepare to be amazed!

The format is informal and to a limited audience so they can be as close to the magic as possible. Three magicians of contrasting styles perform a 25 minute set each, typically with cards, coins and borrowed objects.

There is a short interval between each act to help the audience catch their breath before the show resumes.

Although all shows are of a universal nature and young enthusiasts are welcomed, 80 minutes of close-upis not usually recommended for those under 10.

THE UNRAVELLING WILBURYS- a tribute to The Traveling Wilburys and their rock legend membersJust when they were about to make it to the big time, this band of good ol’ boys from Nashville, Tennessee had a whole bunch of songs (allegedly) stolen by Roy Orbison, Jeff Lynne (ELO), George Harrison, Bob Dylan and Tom Petty, under the late 80s ‘supergroup’ pseudonym “The Traveling Wilburys”.

Things were so bad after that, the real Wilbury brothers (Walter, Sticky Willy, Thumper, Javelin and Fingers) resorted to dressing up as The Beatles, and spent over 20 years touring as “Sgt Pepper’s Only Dart Board Band”. After a lengthy legal battle, a Hazzard County judge ruled the boys could git back their true identity and hit the highway with all their old songs including: “Handle With Care”; “The End Of The Line”; “The Devil’s Been Busy”; “Not Alone Anymore”, and by way of compensation, solo choice cuts: “Pretty Woman”; “You’ve Got It”; “Mr Blue Sky”; “Telephone Line”; “Mr Tambourine Man”; Lay Lady Lay; “Running Down A Dream”; “I Won’t Back Down”; What Is Life; “Here Comes The Sun”; “Runaway” and many other great songs.

“Captured the style and sounds perfectly and with their own added sense of humourgave the audience an evening to remember”

OLD HerbaceousDirected by Simon Downing, Starring Giles Shenton Thursday February 8th, 2.30pm and 7.30pm in the Casson Room£12.50, £10 concessions Described as “Downton Abbey with gardening tips”, Old Herbaceous is a charming one-man often sold-out play that has entranced audiences around the country. Sprinkled with witticisms and epithets, this humorous love story of a single-minded yet gentle man with a passion for plants, is an acute and sometimes hilarious observation of relationships between the classes in the simpler age of the early 20th century. As Old Herbaceous, renowned actor Giles Shenton truly lives the part of the legendry Head Gardener, Herbert Pinnegar, inviting you in on a private chat from a bygone age and keeping you engrossed, amused and emotionally engaged from start to finish. "Downton Abbey with gardening tips." The Guardian "Wonderful production." Surrey Advertiser"Giles Shenton is superb...completely captivating, he has the audience's attentions and imaginations throughout." The Reviews Hub"Not to be missed." BBC Radio Kent “What exactly was the factor that kept the audience riveted to Giles Shenton’s performance? He draws us into his world from his first entrance...and we are held entranced from start to finish....it is a nostalgic, quietly satisfying evening spent with someone who creates an instant rapport with the audience, drawing us into his world and making the characters in it so real you feel you have known them forever." Edinburgh Fringe Review

There’s nothing quite like a cup of tea! The villagers of Ploverleigh have been invited to the home of their local squire Sir Marmaduke for tea and cake. It all sounds rather idyllic doesn’t it, but The Sorcerer is definitely not “an everyday story of country folk”. Someone has decided to lace the tea with a Love Potion! It certainly wasn’t the poor old Vicar who brewed the tea, and it couldn’t have been Mrs Partlet the church pew-opener. So who was the culprit? All will be revealed when you come to see our next show and join the villagers for the betrothal ceremony of Aline to Alexis, the Squire’s son. The Sorcerer is the earliest full-length G & S opera and the only one that does not have an alternative title. Gilbert’s witty libretto tangles up the threads of the story and Sullivan's music is guaranteed to weave a magic spell as the mystery unfolds!Join award-winning Godalming Operatic Society for traditionally-staged performances with lavish costumes and sets, with superb un-amplified Chorus and Principals accompanied by a full 23 piece professional Orchestra - a wonderful musical experience for all members of the family to enjoy.

What is repertory theatre?Rep, as it has become more commonly known, is a list of plays put on by a theatre company on a rotating basis, usually on a weekly schedule, offering a different play each week. It's popularity waned during the latter part of the last century, but it is starting to crop up round the country again now, with the likes of Judi Dench strongly supporting it's resurrection. Rep was often referred to as 'the actors apprenticeship' as cast members have to remember one set of lines for the running production, while learning the next set for the show the following week!

Hordern Ciani Ltd (pronounced char-nee)Katherine Mount and Teresa Barlow formed Hordern Ciani in 2015. As a highly regarded theatre production company they produce plays, shows, and musical theatre that tour around the country in fairly sizeable venues for all types of audiences throughout the UK. Following a highly successful rep season in Swanage over the summer, they are bringing their magic to Leatherhead with the intent of returning for a second season in the autumn.

Yes, Prime Minister Tuesday 17th April -Saturday 21st AprilWritten by Antony Jay and Jonathan Lynn, the original writers of the classic BBC TV series, Yes, Prime Minister, brings us yet more hilarious satire and farcical performances from the corridors of power. The UK is in crisis: debt is spiralling, unemployment is on the rise, and the fragile coalition cabinet, led by Prime Minister Jim Hacker, is at breaking point. However, salvation may exist in the form of a complex pipeline deal with the oil-rich country of Kumranistan that would entitle the government to a multi-trillion-pound loan. When the Kumranistan Foreign Secretary makes a shocking request of Jim's Private Secretary Bernard Woolley, moral considerations collide with the economic future of the nation. How will Jim and his team, Bernard, Cabinet Secretary Sir Humphrey Appleby, and Special Adviser Claire Sutton, reconcile the two? Political machinations, media manipulation, and an appeal for divine intervention ensue.Ticket Prices Adult £18.00 | Concession £16.00 | Friends £15.00Season Tickets Adult £50.00 | Concession £44.00 | Friends £41.00ShowingsTuesday 17th April 2018 7:30pmWednesday 18th April 2018 7:30pmThursday 19th April 2018 7:30pmFriday 20th April 2018 7:30pmSaturday 21st April 2018 2:30pm & 7:30pm

The Secret Garden Tuesday 24th April -Saturday 28th April This stunning adaptation of Frances Hodgson Burnett's novel has been adapted for the stage by Dave Simpson. It's a beautiful portrayal of the well-loved children’s classic, which was last performed in Bournemouth 3 decades ago. A touching escape to the country for all the family to enjoy. When Mary Lennox is sent to Misselthwaite Manor to live with her uncle, everybody says she is the most disagreeable-looking child ever seen. It is true, too. Mary is pale, spoilt, and quite contrary. But she is also horribly lonely. Then, one day, she hears about a garden in the grounds of the manor that has been kept locked and hidden for years. When a friendly robin helps Mary to find the key, she discovers the most magical place anyone could imagine…

When a sex worker is called to the hotel room of a wealthy dying man, it turns out to be for an altogether surprising reason. As danger ensues she escapes through a door to the past and finds herself at the centre of a plot involving the murder of two other women. OPERA BRAVA’SHIGHLY SUCCESSFUL PRODUCTION OF

The Barber of SevilleSaturday 9th June at 7.30pm

This fantastic production by Stuart Maunder who is now the Artistic Director of New Zealand Opera House is being revived by popular demand. Thousands of people saw this work when it toured the country and many have asked to see it again.

Written in three weeks, Rossini’s masterpiece is one of the wittiest and most immediately appealing comic operas in the repertoire today and is as fresh to the ear now as when it rst burst upon it’s Italian audiences in 1816. On rst hearing, the utter joy of one melodic masterpiece owing into the next is thrilling to any audience. As the plot unfolds and is dramatically told through Rossini’s brilliant musical structure, it helps us to understand, in part, the Barber’s special place in the history of opera.

Opera Brava in its 30th year is Britains leading touring opera company. Their production of “The Barber of Seville” is performed by professional and experienced national and international opera singers who have worked with major companies such as; English National Opera and Covent Garden. The performance will be sung in English.

Little Shop of

HORRORSLittle Shop of Horrors is a comedy rock musical, by composer Alan Menken and writer Howard Ashman, about a hapless orist shop worker who raises a plant that feeds on human blood and esh. The musical is based on the low-budget 1960 black comedy lm The Little Shop of Horrors.

The music, composed by Menken in the style of early 1960s rock and roll, doo-wop and early Motown, includes several well-known tunes, including the title song "Skid Row (Downtown)", "Somewhere That's Green", and "Suddenly, Seymour".

The musical premiered O-O-Broadway in 1982 and because of its small cast and relatively simple orchestrations, it has become popular with community theatre, school and other amateur groups.

The musical was also made into a 1986 lm of the same name, directed by Frank Oz.

My Dog’s Got No Nose takes us on a journey through the events surrounding a stand-up comedian’s first ever live performance. Before picking up his microphone and venturing into the limelight, he regales the audience with stories

and tales about his life and experiences. Sometimes funny, sometimes sad, sometimes poignant, and often laugh-out-loud hilarious, he shares his soul, reminiscing about his early career as a furniture-salesman-turned-pho-

tographer, as well as love, marriage and ambitions.

His debut is the fulfilment of a lifelong dream where stand-up comedy, unrequited love, animal lovers, facts of life, sibling rivalries and mercy killing are just some of the elements covered in this very funny and bittersweet story, as we

discover that both the man and the performance are not quite what they seem.

The finale has a particular twist which leaves the crowd oddly silent and the impact is something not frequently found in comedy shows;the light-hearted feel of the first act only serves to heighten the tension running through the second.

“Giles Shenton held his audience’s attention for nearly two hours; their interest or curiosity in the first half, and then to have them fully engrossed in the second before a shocked silence when you could hear a pin drop in the auditorium.”

Alton Herald

“Being billed as a comedy … understates what is a wonderful piece of theatre … this one-man performance, brilliantly put over by Giles Shenton, is so much more than a comedy as the story evolves in the second half.....The audience was

privileged to be entertained, and have its emotions thoroughly massaged, by such a thought-provoking and high-quality production ... puts one in mind of Alan Bennett’s Talking Heads.” Beccles & Bungay Journal

“We are privileged to share in a moving expose of a testing and, in a way, very lovely gamut of human emotion ...Giles

Shenton gifts us with another tour de force ... catch it while you can!” Surrey Advertiser
