The Power of Silence

• Silence can be a powerful tool for elicitinginformation

• Silence during a conversation is uncomfortable andpeople feel compelled to break it

• Be silent, but engaged (maintain eye contact andlistening posture) and the other person usually willvolunteer more information on whatever topic isbeing addressed.

• Important to respect silence
