ABOUT LEGAL & GENERAL

Thank you for your interest in the Finance Graduate Scheme with Legal & General. If you’re looking to build a career in finance in an inspiring and diverse environment, this scheme could be for you. As well as gaining priceless commercial experience, you’ll be fully supported to achieve a recognised accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).

THE ROLE

THE ROTATION SCHEME

Joining our Finance Graduate Scheme will see you undertaking a three-year programme as a Financial Analyst across our businesses. In the three years you’ll gain the experience required to qualify as an accountant. You’ll learn the commercial and financial ins and outs of our business.

Examples of work you’ll gain experience in include: budgeting, forecasting and planning, financial analysis, management information, expense management, financial control and reporting, business partnering and relationship management, internal audit and project work.

The scheme will have you completing three ‘seats’, rotating every 12 months at minimum. This will give you experience in at least two areas of our business – from Retirement, Insurance and Capital to Group Finance, Group Treasury and Savings.

To give you the best understanding of the company you’re joining, you can complete your rotations at any of our main locations: central London, Hove, Birmingham or Cardiff. Therefore, you’ll need to be flexible and prepared to move around.

After joining, you’ll have an induction period where you’ll be introduced to your colleagues and welcomed into the organisation. Activities will include team building exercises, organisation and business area overviews and systems training. Team-building sessions will be repeated at the end of each seat rotation where you’ll share your experiences and learning with your colleagues as well as taking part in other skills-building training activities.

THE SUPPORTED STUDY SCHEME

BUILDING YOUR FUTURE CAREER

During the three-year scheme, you’ll be supported to achieve a recognised accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA or CIMA). This will be through a combination of self-study and block release courses. All courses, exams and memberships will be fully funded by us, and you’ll have study leave to prepare for and to take your exams.

As we’re fully committed to your development, you’ll be supported by a mentor and your colleagues around you to ensure you have the best chance of success. And to make sure you take your career as seriously as we do, and to push you further, you’ll be expected to have completed your qualification within the three-year duration of the scheme.

Of course, it’s not just about these first three years. We want to see you succeed and take ownership, so we’ll give you the tools and autonomy you need to build a foundation for your future career too.

THE APPLICATION AND SELECTION PROCESS

TIMELINE

For your application, we’d like you to submit a copy of your CV as well as answer a number of questions relating to your interest in the role and your suitability for it. If your application meets what we’re looking for, we’ll have a telephone interview with you. If that goes well, we’ll ask you to complete some online tests to assess your ability to work with words and numbers. The final stage will be for you to attend an assessment centre at one of our offices, where we can get to know more about you and you can get to know more about us.
