It’s hard to believe another hunting season is about to come to a close. I hope this hunting season was successful for you and you are in the process of making plans for the next hunting season. As hunters, 2017 was a challenging year. We lost grizzly bear hunting in British Columbia, and the anti- hunters continue to challenge wolf management in the Western states and upper mid-west, and have now set their targets on mountain lion hunting in Arizona. The grizzly bear loss in B.C. is a scary one because it specifically targeted trophy hunting. To the anti- hunters is the hunting of any animal that cannot be considered a meat hunt which means species like mountain lion and mountain goat are next on their agenda. Being a member of SCI is more important now than ever before. With all the fake news and embellished news stories, we need organizations like SCI to stand up with the facts. Hunting opportunities for my two children are diminishing year by year. SCI is first for hunters and for those that are not aware, they have a team of lobbyists and attorneys in Washington D.C. who will not back down from any fight against someone trying to take away our hunting privileges. These lobbyists and attorneys don’t come cheap, therefore your board at Lehigh Valley has been working hard at making the 2018 fundraiser banquet the most successful yet. There will be more trips, new trips, and a new format for Saturday’s event. Be sure to sign up early and invite a friend to this year’s banquet. The battle against anti -hunters in the political arena is a game of numbers, therefore growth in SCI at the chapter level and national level shows our politicians that we believe in SCI enough to become a member and remain a member. Lehigh Valley SCI members will be having two SCI-PAC fund raisers this spring, one hosted by Tim and Kathy Reiger, and the other hosted by Bob and Lois Matayas. These events are vital in funding political campaigns in support of politicians who look out for our best interests…..politicians who are first for hunters. I encourage everyone to take advantage of SCI National’s membership special of $35 and buy a friend or youth a membership and then send me an email at [email protected] and we will in turn offer them a free Lehigh Valley SCI chapter membership. At the local level, your Lehigh Valley SCI chapter has funded many youth sportsman events, sponsored high school sporting clays teams, supported school NASP programs, sent education influencers to the AWLS camp, funded conservation projects, hosted two Veterans’ hunts to show our support of those who fight for our freedoms, and has launched a new, more informative and intuitive website. Be sure to check the new website out at www.lvsci.org . It took a lot of work and is a great way to keep up with what’s happening within our chapter. Banquet registration and payment is now available on this website. Check it often for the latest hunts that will be available for auction at the upcoming March Fundraiser. New for 2018, all chapter life members get free admittance to our bi-monthly membership meetings. If you are a life member at the National level but not a life member of our chapter, please consider investing the $250 into the chapter to become a life member. If you attend eleven membership meetings, you are money ahead. As always, I encourage you to get more involved at the Chapter level. We are always looking for additional help at the banquet and for new board members. If you like to help, have ideas or suggestions, please reach out to me via email at [email protected] or call me on my cell at 717-329-9180. I would like to thank the board members for their hard work and dedication to SCI, it’s mission, and our chapter in 2017. I look forward to another productive year in 2018. Happy Holidays! It’s hard to believe another hunting

season is about to come to a close. I hope this hunting

season was successful for you and you are in the

process of making plans for the next hunting season.

As hunters, 2017 was a challenging year. We lost

grizzly bear hunting in British Columbia, and the anti-

hunters continue to challenge wolf management in the

Western states and upper mid-west, and have now set

their targets on mountain lion hunting in Arizona. The

grizzly bear loss in B.C. is a scary one because it

specifically targeted trophy hunting. To the anti-

hunters is the hunting of any animal that cannot be

considered a meat hunt which means species like

mountain lion and mountain goat are next on their agenda.

Being a member of SCI is more important now than ever before. With all the fake news and embellished

news stories, we need organizations like SCI to stand up with the facts. Hunting opportunities for my two

children are diminishing year by year. SCI is first for hunters and for those that are not aware, they have a

team of lobbyists and attorneys in Washington D.C. who will not back down from any fight against

someone trying to take away our hunting privileges. These lobbyists and attorneys don’t come cheap,

Welcome to Solo Creek Guide Services

If you are looking for the Big Game hunt of a lifetime Solo Creek Guide Services is one of the best possible

options you will find for fulfilling that dream in Alaska. We are located deep in the rugged Wrangell Mountains of

Alaska. Our lodge sits in the Wrangell Saint Elias Preserve and abuts up to the famous Wrangell Saint Elias National

Park, one of the largest parks in the world. Because this area abuts up to the Wrangell Saint Elias National Park we

have an abundance of Alaska’s Big Game Animals in our exclusive guiding area.

We are a small family owned/operated outfit which only books a few hunters each year. We pride ourselves

on having managed the game in this area since 1960 which is when the Vaden family began guiding at this location.

Over the years we have been extremely selective on the number of hunters we take (maximum of 6) and believe this

is why our hunters have had 75% success rate in the last two decades. We believe in hunting hard with attention to

detail, the condition of the hunter, and the hunter’s desires. We are here to provide a hunting service and encourage

your input while you are hunting for your trophy. Solo Creek Guide Services has a registered guide as well as three

experienced assistant guides to participate in the success of your hunt. We support and encourage both rifle and bow

hunters.

Solo Creek Guide Services base camp is very remote being several hundred miles from major Alaskan cities.

It is accessible only by Bush Plane in the summer and fall and snow machines in the winter. We also use spike

camps which are set up to accommodate the comforts of the hunter with tents for sleeping, cooking and relaxing af-

ter a long day of hunting. Our location provides excellent opportunities for bagging a trophy Moose, Grizzly Bear or

Dall Sheep.

Much of your hunting will be done with horse support with the final stalk on foot.. You will cross ice cold

rivers, travel up steep canyons and vast timbered areas while seeking your trophies. Hunting techniques will vary

depending on the species you are after. Sheep, moose and bear all require a different methods and techniques al-

though you will need to utilize a bit of some from each style. In many situations you will want to have a good set of

optics, so you can look for your trophy while we sit quietly waiting for the game to start moving. Solo Creek has a

tremendous variety of terrain which provides home to many trophies. It has lush grass meadows, heavy timber, thick

willow groves and high mountain tundra with snow covered mountain peaks in the high country. It is a hunter’s

paradise. We offer the experience of a life time and are here to help you fulfill your hunting dreams.

The hunts we offer are 10 days in duration and include caping and preparing your trophy for shipping. We

will transport the trophy, (horns, antlers and cape) to and expediter and will give them the location you wish your

trophy shipped to. We do not pay for the shipping of your trophy nor your tags, licenses and harvest tickets. How-

ever, we do furnish all your room and board once you arrive at Solo Creek.
