Léon Krier Architect and Urban Planner

BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Born in Luxembourg in 1946.

Younger brother of Rob Krier.

Studied Architecture at the University of Stuttgart.

Collaborated with James Stirling in London, 1968-1974.

Professor of Architecture and Town Planning, Architectural Association and Royal College of Arts, London, 1974-1976.

Professor of Architecture, Princeton University, 1977.

Jefferson Professor, University of Virginia, 1982.

Consultant to His Royal Highness, Charles, the Prince of Wales, since 1988.

Davenport Professor, Yale University, 1990-1991.

Art director and designer for furniture designer Giorgetti, Italy, 1990-present.

Eero Saarinen Professor, Yale University, 2002.

Founding Trustee of the New School for Traditional Architecture & Urbanism, Charleston, 2002.

Special Awards and Recognitions:

Berlin Prize for Architecture, 1977.

Personal Exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art, New York, 1985.

Jefferson Memorial Gold Medal, 1985.

Chicago American Institute of Architects Award, 1987.
