This masterclass offers practical guidance for organisations who are at the first stages of either introducing, or developing participation. It is written especially for organisations supporting young people’s mental health and addresses the specific issues and considerations around participation in the context of young people’s mental health. It will be especially helpful for: Organisations learning how participation applies to them, especially schools and other universal services who may not have considered this before. Services looking to broaden the scope of participation, or to share ideas with others. Professionals with a responsibility for organisational participation who are new to this area of work or want to develop their confidence. The content is equally relevant to organisations across the system - from universal services like schools and youth centres, to targeted youth services and specialist CAMHS. The workshop uses peer learning and interactive tasks and will include insights from a rich mixture of workers, young people and parent/carers from a range of different settings to make the session valuable for all. How is this course relevant to me? At the end of this course you will be able to: Describe participation in young people’s mental health, and how it relates to your organisation. Identify opportunities for youth/parent and carer participation within your organisation Identify enablers and barriers for participation, and develop strategies to address barriers. Identify which groups of young people, parents/carers and staff to engage and be aware of some strategies for engagement.
