High Excellence exemplar for Geography 91240 2016 Total score 8

Q Grade score Annotation

E8 The candidate selects three distinct and different time periods. The diagrams are clear, and the written component that goes with it, significantly adds value by fully explaining the formation and continual changes of the Tongariro Volcanic Centre. The candidate shows real geographic insight. The candidate is able to succinctly explain the various factors that have been involved in forming and changing their chosen natural environment. In part (a), the case study material was detailed. In part (b), the focus of the candidate's answer is based on the changing perception of local Māori iwi and the TVC Tourist Operators. Again, comprehensive detailed case study material is provided to back up the changing perception of the various groups. The candidate incorporates and integrates geographic concepts appropriately.
