Leveraging Water Utility Solutions During Hurricane Matthew
in St. Johns County, Florida
St Johns County established mobile applications to Improve workflows for main breaks, customer notice,
asset management and operations. Information solutions are built on AG4LG Water, ArcGIS Online and Cityworks platforms.
This presentation will demonstrate the use of these applications and how St. Johns County leveraged the Esri and
Cityworks Platforms during Hurricane Mathew for response and recovery to manage and report work orders, water outages, boil water advisories, sanitary overflows and damage assessments.

Formal submittal required in December and January for FEMA and St. Johns County application process.

Severity of impact required a countywide comprehensive damage assessment.
Damage Assessment was directed mid-day on Monday.
Utility teams went out Tuesday with tablets and Collector app.
Utility Damage Assessment of 400 Lift Stations, and major facility sites.
Insurance Adjustor used app to view sites, review damage and summarize.

Each Incident is a Lesson for the Next
Build on existing success. Improve procedures, develop staff and expand use of technology to share information and reduce noise.
Provide Cityworks and AGOL mobile applications for Management and Supervisors to expand operational awareness and immediacy of information.
Emergency Plans involving technology should be reviewed more frequently.
Hurricane Exercise should include field operations walk-through so procedures are tested and rolls are clear.
Improve SOP for Call Center for Service Requests and Work Order Entry.
Identify critical information, and build into map services, including power outages, fleet locations, closures, shelters, critical facilities, etc.
Identify needs from Administration including Contracts, and FEMA requirements
Build on methods for providing information to the public.
