Each district has its story to tell, delicately proposing a mixture of luxury boutiques, pedestrianized streets bustling with stores, including the new Galeries Lafayette and Le Printemps department stores, gastronomic restaurants and typical estaminets, art galleries and colourful markets...
No end of things to do Sincerity, hospitality, a festive spirit and a sense of fun are an integral part of life in Lille where festivals, parades and breathtaking exhibitions take place all year round...

Museums Monuments
There are over 20 museums in the Greater Lille Metropolitan area. Among them are the Palais des Beaux-arts (Fine Arts Museum), whose vast collection is second only to the Louvre in Paris. The Musée de la Piscine in Roubaix is one of Europe’s most stunning museums. Built in the 193:’s, this swimming pool-turned-museum is a glorious study in Art Deco architecture and design. The Musée d’Art Contemporain in Villeneuve d’Ascq will wow contemporary art devotees and soon, the Louvre-Lens
museum will open its doors 30 minutes from Lille.
Our region’s belfries are symbols of a wealthy and powerful commercial
past and today are registered on UNESCO’s world heritage list. From Lille’s
Vieille-Bourse, (stock exchange building), to renovated textile mills and the
region’s mining history, concrete evidence of a rich and varied past is
around every corner
Gastronomy
Have you heard of waterzoi, carbonnade flamande, or potchevleesch?
These are just a few examples of Lille’s culinary heritage, certain to peak the interest of the most avid gourmet. From rich stews, tasty terrines and super-fresh seafood to fragrant cheeses and flavorful beers, food and drink here in the North are taken seriously.
The Greater Lille Metropolitan area counts 1,285 restaurants , ranging
from classic or inventive French cuisine and Flemish fare to ethnic foods of all sorts. And the region’s 1,000 cafés are lively and perfect spots to soak
in the local color over a locally brewed beer. From refined Michelin-starred restaurants to cozy local estaminets, the gastronomic options are countless.
