Welcome to The Liberty Fleet of Tall Ships, our fleet consists of two beautiful schooners, LIBERTY CLIPPER & LIBERTY STAR. Our company

offers a variety of sailing trips that appeal to travelers who yearn for experience and adventure on a Tall Ship on the most beautiful and historic sailing

waters on earth. Our ships are located in Boston, Massachusetts during the summer season and sail their way to the pristine islands of The Bahamas

and the lively beaches of the Virgin Islands for the winter sailing season. This brochure explores our winter cruising grounds in depth and also briefly

Fun and Relaxation

Come experience the romance of a traditional sailing ship while enjoying modern com-

forts and amenities. Our cook prepares scrumptious meals daily and each trip includes

a weekly signature dish, such as a Caribbean Lobster Bake or a fantastic blue crab din-

ner when we stop by the port of Baltimore for the Great Chesapeake Bay Schooner

Race.

Accommodations

Your stay aboard the LIBERTY CLIPPER will be comfortable and enjoyable. Our ship was designed as a Windjammer; specif-

ically configured to maximize your comfort and enjoyment. Each cabin is appointed with yellow pine paneling and a private

sink. Your cabin is fitted with comfortable linens, pillows, towels and we even supply the beach towels!

Vessel Information

LIBERTY CLIPPER, a gaff rigged schooner, is a replica of the renowned Baltimore Clippers, made famous over a century ago

for their speedy and safe rounding of Cape Horn on expeditions to the California Gold Rush. Her design includes a large on

deck galley, comfortable accommodations for up to 24 guests, and a newly complemented grand salon. Each of our voyages are

a unique, once-in a lifetime experience where you will wake to the sound of water lapping at the hull from your home on the sea.

Bahamas Cruises

From November to May LIBERTY CLIPPER

sails from Nassau in The Bahamas. The Baha-

mas are a large grouping of islands that are sepa-

rated from Miami by the straits of Florida by

about 45-miles at the closest point. The Out

Islands, where we spend our days, are unspoiled

coves far from the crowds where serenity and

natural beauty abound. We will visit remote

fishing villages, historic forts and deserted is-

lands with private sand beaches where you can

stroll and swim all day long.

Twice a year we trade

in our relaxation for

the island culture and

excitement of Junka-

noo. This event is at

Christmas and New

Year’s and is The

Bahamian version of

Carnival!

Offshore cruising

LIBERTY CLIPPER sails south each October and

north again each June. On our southbound transit

we may visit Cape Cod and the Islands, the Statue

of Liberty and Baltimore’s famed Inner Harbor.

Then we join with other gorgeous ships for the an-

nual Great Chesapeake Bay Schooner Race to

Portsmouth, Virginia. From there we round Cape

Hatteras and continue to coastal gems like

Charleston, SC or Amelia Island, FL depending on

the wind and weather. Or come join us on a true

blue water sailing voyage from the continental US

to Nassau, Bahamas. Each of these exciting trips

only happens once a year!

LIBERTY CLIPPER is a past winner of this

fun-filled race. The finish line boasts a fleet

wide party, with an oyster and pig roast, but

inquire early, this trip sells out every year!

New England sailing

Every Summer, explore the beautiful coast of

New England by sea. Join us for a memorable

vacation and discover all that coastal New Eng-

land has to offer. The home port of LIBERTY

CLIPPER is Boston from here the ship takes 2

hour excursions in Historic Boston Harbor.

For longer, chartered expeditions we may sail

south to Cape Cod and the Islands or north

along Cape Ann. Every Labor Day Weekend,

the LIBERTY CLIPPER sails north to

Gloucester for the annual Gloucester Schoon-

er Festival. From harbor sails to offshore

schooner races and island cruises, we've got

something for everyone!

Other Shipboard Activities

You're also invited to sail our Peapod Dinghy! This

13-foot sailing dinghy was handcrafted in Maine by

a master shipwright. Any of our crew will be happy

to teach you how to skipper this beauty. We also

have two kayaks and a paddleboard for your use as

well as ample snorkel gear aboard.

A Typical Day….

Wake to the gentle sounds of water

lapping against the hull; start the day with a

wonderful breakfast served in our Grand Sa-

lon. We usually begin the day with some sail-

ing; typically the ship sails from mid-morning

to mid-afternoon. The day is yours, take time

to relax: catnap on deck or read a good book

from the many on board. Listen to the Captain

tell sea stories or help sail the ship.

Fill your vacation with snorkeling, beachcomb-

ing, and exploring the secluded coves and

shorelines of the Out Islands of The Bahamas.

Our vacations are the ultimate in unplugged

sailing excursions. Swim, kayak, or just relax.

Details…

Boarding: We board in Nassau, Bahamas Sundays at

5:00PM. Fly into Nassau, airport code “NAS”, then take a cab

to Nassau Yacht Haven and look for the only tall ship there!

Disembark: Saturday at 10:00AM. Plan your return flight no

earlier than 1:00PM.

PASSPORTS ARE REQUIRED to enter the Bahamas for

your Windjammer Cruise!

Inclusions: Included with the price of your cruise will be all your

meals while aboard the ship, including water and juice (iced tea/

lemonade). Also, you'll have use of our sea kayaks, paddleboard,

sailing dinghy, and snorkel equipment while aboard.

Add-Ons: Port Fees, alcoholic beverages, canned soda and bot-

tled water, cabin upgrades, and crew gratuity.

Minimum age: 10 years old accompanied by an adult (on a

whole ship charter, the minimum age would be 8 years old)

Requirements: You must be able to climb up/down a ladder to

access the below decks areas of the ship. Additionally, you'll need

to be able to descend our ships ladder to reach our inflatable boat

(speed boat) which will take you ashore throughout the week as

we explore.

Welcome aboard the Schooner LIBERTY STAR

Vessel Information:

The LIBERTY STAR is a topsail schooner that has circumnavigated the world! She is sturdily built of white oak and mahogany and her interior finish work is all wood and varnish! She measures 67-feet overall, 52-feet "on-deck" and has a beam of 16-feet. With an 8-foot draft, she is a highly stable and seaworthy vessel. There is one bathroom with a shower for our guests that is shared and we also have a fresh-water on-deck shower.

Accommodations:

Each cabin is appointed with gorgeous wood paneling and louvered doors for excel-

lent circulation below decks. Additionally, LIBERTY STAR is air conditioned. Your

cabin will be fitted with comfortable linens as well as both bath and beach towels.

Cabins 1 and 2: Our forward cabins offer top/bottom bunks with very comfortable beds. There is a "butterfly hatch" above those cabins to offer fresh breezes. Storage space is in the custom-built storage lockers (please pack light, it is a tall ship!)

Cabin 3: Our premium cabin offers a full-sized bed and a private sink and vanity

area. This cabin also features an opening skylight for natural light and air.

Come experience the adventure of a traditional sailing ship on the LIBERTY STAR while exploring some of the most

famous sailing waters on earth. Our cook prepares your meals with fresh local ingredients daily and each trip includes

a weekly signature dish such as a Caribbean Lobster Bake. Then check out the local color on shore or settle in with a

good book. The beauty of the Virgin Islands is second only to its charming island watering holes.

Virgin Islands Cruises

In the Virgin Islands, we can get mostly any-where in a few hours, so you'll never be long between adventures! We have a great tender to get you ashore; take a swim or take out our sea kayak or paddleboard! Each day will be a com-bination of excursions onshore or in the water, and relaxing aboard the ship (enjoy a cocktail if you choose!) Our ship has air conditioning so you can always come back aboard to cool off and relax. We often set our awning (canopy) to provide a shaded area of the deck as well. We do not set a fixed itinerary for the week, our Captain along with our guests select the best destinations for each cruise, which makes every cruise unique. We typically stop at the following islands, among others: Jost Van Dyke, Tortola (multiple ports), Norman Island, Peter Island, Virgin Gorda (the Baths and the Bitter End), Sandy Cay, and Saint John (USVI).

Join us in Boston during the summer months! The LIBERTY STAR docks next to the New England Aquarium offering public sails to both locals and out of state passengers. The sails are 1 1/2 hours long in historic Boston Harbor. The LIBERTY STAR takes 35 guests on our Boston Harbor Schooner Cruises. The LIBERTY STAR is a unique getaway within the city, it has the intimacy of a private yacht and the majesty of a tall ship. If you’d like to extend your sailing excursion, you can stay aboard for our Tall Ship Overnights — a unique lodging experience in Boston!

You will find lots of entertainment on the islands for

your family and friends. Listen to steel drum music

while enjoying the Caribbean color at a local estab-

lishment. Or eat aboard and head to shore for the

evening’s entertainment.

A Typical Day...

The proximity of the Virgins Islands allow you to

decide your own itinerary. Daily activities will be

snorkeling, sun bathing, sailing, and spending time

on the beach. We make it habit of anchoring or

docking every evening before dark in a safe, pro-

tected harbor. From then on relax and get a good

night’s rest after an exciting day of sailing or go

ashore to visit a unique beachfront watering hole!

Shipboard activities

We have ample snorkel gear in an assortment of

sizes including, masks, snorkels, and fins. We

also have a two-seater inflatable sea kayak and a

paddleboard so you can explore these waters on

your own! Our custom awning shades you

from the tropical sun while allowing you to en-

joy the trade winds on deck.

The pace of the Virgin Islands is slow but the

sailing is fast! Trade winds keep us moving and

our sturdy vessel with its wooden hull and deep

keel keep us comfortable. In the morning, after

a swim or snorkeling excursion, we set sail to

another island or special, protected anchorage.

There we will take a lunch and relaxation break

until we decide to take another swim or sail onto

another anchorage for the night. Each day and

each week is different and our Captain will gladly

discuss and share the day’s itinerary with you.

There is no rush and no plan other than to have

fun, enjoy the sun, and relax as our crew takes

good care of you!

tall ship there!
