CONCEPT URBAN PLANNING OF CAIJIN LAKE OF SOUTH NEW TOWN XUANCHENG CITY,ANHUI ,CHINA

Project Overview

The new town of Xuancheng lies in the south of Xuancheng City, including municipal administrative center, Xiadu creative park, cultural and creative park with low intensity, higher education zone and leisure and cultural residential quarters.The area of Caijin Lake lies in the south of new town. The general planning of the city is intended to be new administrative center of the city. Xuancheng is located in the southeast of Anhui Province and is adjacent to Shanghai, Zhejiang and Jiangsu. It lies in an important position of the southeast of Wanjiang City belt which has a shaft of binuclear flanks. Xuancheng has more than 2000 years of history since it was set up as county in Western Han Dynasty. It is the hometown of Chinese four treasures of the study, landscape garden city and international famous historical and cultural city.The southern new city is the focus of Xuancheng’s future development. How to show the southern new distr ict ’s characteristics and form functional compensation for original build-up areas, how to show the cultural features of Jiangnan cities with connotation of modernization, internationalization and cultural creativity, and a high starting point and high level of planning and design are the necessary guarantee and premise.

Seeing the superposition of the planning over the years, we can find the planning with different levels and timing sequences, which respectively aims at solving great problems in the process of city development.To sum up, they can be divided into three aspects:

1.To solve the problem of layout of land use in the process of rapid city development, especially the industrial land layout problem.

2.To determine the direction of city development, and to be clear about the development strategy of North Across, East Combination, West Development and South Control.

3.Especially to be clear about the location and orientation of important projects, such as the westward migration of administration center, Urban Recreation Area of Crocodile Lake, Hefei University of Technology and so on.

Analysis of traffic pattern Transportation OverviewXuancheng City has all kinds of superior e x t e r n a l t r a n s p o r t a t i o n , i n c l u d i n g railways, highways, waterways and other transportation tools.Railway: Wangan Railway and Xuanhang Railway get together in Xuancheng City, and Xuancheng is an important junction node of secondary channel in Eastern China.Highway: Xuannantong Expressway, Shanghai and Chongqing Expressway, No.318 National Highway and No.104 and No. 322 Provincial Highway Waterway: Shuiyangjiang River, an important water transportation channel, connects Shuiyangjiang River with Wu Shen Canal, and it is Xuancheng external important waterway contact line. The dock of Haitang Bay is an important dock in Xuancheng City. Shuiyangjiang River, the downstream of the dock of Haitang Bay, can satisfy the type of 500 tons of ships perennial navigation.

Traffic facilities planning

The planning designs traffic network composed of four lengthwise and three transverse, which can effectively relief traffic flow in the industrial area and strengthen the contact between the administrative region and main city district and southern new town district.

This scheme selects traffic collection points in old city, administration center, landscape point of Caijin Lake, landscape points of Copper Mountain and Iron Mountain and functional gathering points within all kinds of groups as survey object. The simulation reflects the occurrence of inter-regional traffic volume due to all kinds of functional requirements, and the traffic volume in administrative center is largest. Besides, the traffic volume in the regional administrative center and main city district is largest.

Select 600X600 meters square area ofthe base for street, building texture, street blocks analysis.The street block is people’s perception range of architecture interface when standing in the center of the road. The building contour line within 20 meters of boundary street can be perceived, however, people’s perception begins to weaken when standing above 20 meters away.Therefore, the more of street contour lines are reserved, the more appropriate scale of the city perceived by people. The typical cities, such as New York and Paris, their street contour lines are reserved properly with appropriate scale.The vitual and essence scale of administrative center in Caijin Lake has both thick and thin. The density of street contour line is suitable for the functional requirements of the administrative square.

It takes several administrative squares of the cit ies in foreign, domestic and Anhui Province as research objects to compare with the scale of administrative square of Caijin Lake in Xuancheng with 100 x 100 m grid as reference.The administrative square of Caijin Lake in Xuancheng is about 200 meters with appropriate comprehensive contrast scale.

01.2Project introduction

Dongshan Town is located in the southwest of Haikou City, opposite to Dingan County across Nadu River, connected to Yongfa Town, Chengmai County in the west, and boarded with Xinpo Town, Zuntan Town, Yongxing Town and Shishan Town in the east and north. Dongshan Twon has a total area of nearly 131 square kilometers including 2 communities and 21 villages with 80000 inhabitants.Dongshan Town sits at low-latitude northern tropical edge of tropical oceanic climate with little rainfall and common drought in the warm spring, high temperature and heavy rainfall in summer, frequent typhoons and rainstorms in the wet and cool autumn, as well as periodical cold air current in the dry winter. Dongshan Town enjoys long-time sunshine throughout the year with an average temperature of 23.8℃ all year round, the highest average temperature being 28℃ and the lowest average temperature being 18℃.

A Grand Ecological Environment In Binhai District, Haikou, the Base is about half an hour's drive from the seashore wi th surrounding vegetations in good condit ions, near to Hainan Tropical Wildlife and Botanic Garden, known for its overall agreeable environment.

With a total area of about 225.9 hectares, the project plot is about 7.7 km away from the east highway that leads to Zhongzhaipo Village, 3.7 km from national highway 224 that leads to Dongshan Town in the west, stretched far with township road in the south. The planned Changda Road is connected with the east highway at Xinpo with entrance and exit.

The plot enjoys gentle topography with two raised mounds in the north and west respectively. The overall elevation shows an increasing rising terrain horizontally, with the highest elevation of 56 meters and the lowest elevation of 30.5 meters

The plot enjoys gentle topography with slight fluctuations and an average slope of 3%. Water system in the north runs into Dongzhai Reservoir in the south.

Project is located in Haikou City Xiuying D is t r i c t Dongshan approx imate ly 4 .7 kilometers northeast, about 25 kilometers away from Haikou city. Nearby East Village Reservoir; landscape resources better, with a total area of about 225.9 hectares.

Geographical location analysis

Cross-border Road: 1 east-west 4-meter-wide cement township road, connected to Dongshan Town in the west and to Zhongzhaipo Village in the east. Internal road:2 southwest-northeast internal roads and many dirt branches. The venue transport accessibility is poor.

The plot boasts of abundant water resources that run into Dongzhai Reservoir from the northwest. Water is intercepted at the east side of the reservoir with dams. In rainy season, the water will pass through the dams and run to the floodway. The plot has a water area of about 25.8 hectares.

Status of land is mainly woodland and waters. Total land area isabout 225.9 hectares.

1.The plot has territory in the southwest in 2000m range of Hainan Yunhai Civilian Blasting Co.,Ltd explosives warehouse. 2.According to related regulations of Haikou, the blue line shall yield 100 meters. 3.The adjacent plot exists a waste yard and burial land.Note: the explosive warehouse is likely to move in the near future.

Design Specification:The overall design of the courtyard is themed on Thai and Southeast Asian style adhering to the principle of adjusting measures to local conditions and creating individual space. With buildings combined with the decorative structure, the courtyard is designed to a high-end Thai private villa courtyard integrating leisure, holiday, residence and meting friends. It is mainly divided into four areas respectively for entertainment, meeting friends, rest and landscape sightseeing as well as health preserving. All areas are carefully equipped with plants so that the entire courtyard is evergreen, spring-like and full of various colors all year round.

Design Specification:Chinese landscape focuses on artistic conception. The design will use planting density and traditional combination of pavilion with flower porch to achieve the “artistic conception” with beautiful landscape. The courtyard adopts classical garden style, highlighting natural landscape of mountain and water. The design takes advantage of the terrain to contain mountain and water in the courtyard. Water falls in the middles of the fake rock, fish swimming in the pool, lotus blooming in the pond, which all form the elegance of a classical garden. Cobblestone paths along the pond with flowers and grass jointly create a space of quietness and comfort. In nights with moonlight, it will present an artistic conception where bright moonlight sheds upon the pines and clear spring runs through the stones.

Design Specification:Design concept---The scheme is themed on French romantic manor and aims to highlight the graceful bearing and magnificent landscape of French manor by emphasizing axial relation and luxurious decorations.Functional analysis---The manor is divided into dynamic area in northwest and still area in southeast by the southward courtyard. In view of axial design, there are north-south building axis and east-west landscape axis with the recreational area to the west of the complex, which forms an open recreation space together with the swimming pool. The water platform in the east is organically connected with the system.

Idea generation

Positioning analysisThis place which is in cold and frozen area, lies in Baijia Castle District, Harbin, and it is the largest village-in-city in Harbin downtown area, and it once had the largest floating population. “It is urbanized outside the village and dirty inside the village” is a good sentence that well describes the current situation of Baijia Castle.The surrounding of this area has residential quarters and the campus of Harbin University of Science and Technology. The terrain in this area is flat with a total area of 11.29h m². There are several universities in the surrounding with good cultural envrionment, and it once was resting place for people who migrated into the Northeast a century ago.

The transportation in this area is convenient with Yanxing Road, Changshou Road and Planning Road coming together. The Yanxing Road and Changshou Road are city roads, and the Planning Road is secondary city road.

Proposed questions:1. The main citizens in the residential quarters2.How do residents in the residential quarters meet the needs of return residents’ life demands?3.How to coordinate the development of human and natural ecology?4.What kind of infrastructure and functional equipments are needed in residential quarters?

Concept of positioning:Urban redevelopment is an important means to revive the city, and it is an important way to improve citizen’s environment and achieve intensification of land utilization. It also is an important means to stimulate the vigor and vitality of the city. Besides, urban redevelopment is a significant measure to accelerate urban economic development and strengthen the investment.It will become the focus to reform the planning of current situation of residential quarters, to optimize the residential environment of village-in-city and to construct high standard residential quarters with local characteristics.

Hohhot is the capital of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region with an area of 17,224 square meters, and it is China’s famous historical and cultural city. Hohhot means green city in Mongolian language. In 2005, Hohhot was honoured as Chinese Milk City.Hohhot is temperate continental monsoon climate with four seasons changing obviously. Its features are as follows: Winter is long and cool while summer is short and hot, and it has rich light energy resources. Hohhot keeps growing with abundant natural advantages of dairy industry and wool textile industry. Hohhot, Matsubara, Baotou and Erdos are named “ Four Little Dragons of Northern China Economy”.

1.The plants are well preserved here with abundant vegetation .2.Part of the landscapes and facilities are good.3.The original wooden sculpture are full of fun.4.The cultural connotation of totem colonnade not only organizes the touring route, but also provides shade and resting areas for tourists.5.The pool square shows a sense of order and at the same time it provides shade in summer.

1.The layer of phytocoenosium is not rich, the colors of plants are humdrum in winter.2.The arrangement and design of animal cages are unreasonable, which lack protection and have single color and form.3.The decoration style of the ground is monotonous.4.The opening space, such as square, lacks service facilities.5.The indication and marks are not apparent.6.The form of rockery is too rigid to well combine with the surroundings, and its function and landscape are insufficient.

Bei’an lies in the center of Northern Heilongjiang Province, and it is the most northern transportation hub in China. Bei’an once was the capital of Heilongjiang Province with an area of 7,194 square meters and the total population of nearly 0.5 million. It is 333 kilometers far away from Harbin and 296 kilometers far away from border town, Black River. Its surrounding is adjacent to natural volcanic museum of Wudalianchi Lake, and also it is the vital place for people to go from China’s mainland to the borderland, Black River.The project lies in northwest of Bei’an with superior Sheung Shui suitable for living. With fully equipped public infrastructure in surroundings and good cultural environment, it can meet all kinds of people’s life needs.The project has complete education system, there are kindergarten, primary and middle schools as well as university in surroundings with averagely five minutes by bus. Besides, there are large shopping center, landscape greenbelt and municipal services and facilities are all about ten minutes by bus. There are most of small-scale shantytowns, multi-storey dwellings and waste farmlands in surroundings with flat terrain. In November 2010, I took advantage of leisure time to make a Popsicle Sticks Lodge. Its main production materials is that popsicle sticks eaten by us and bamboo sticks. This Popsicle Sticks Lodge can shine after switch on the power in the dark.

PS: I think with eat Popsicle sticks as main materials, is a kind of environmental protection consciousness that turning waste into treasure. I want to have a wonderful and harmonious living environment.
