You may utter silently, “I sing in the choir, but I’m no great singer.” “I do my best, most of the time, and I trust God uses me, but I’m not anyone special!” And yet, you are! In 1 Chronicles 16:28-29, the Bible says, “Give unto the LORD, ye kindreds of the people, give unto the LORD glory and strength. Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come before him: worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.” We have much to bring to the worship of our Lord, but we also must rehearse what we are to present to Him and His people. The opportunity for intense Christ- mas music rehearsal is scheduled for Sunday, November 6 from Noon to 3:00 p.m. We will meet in the Fellowship Hall to eat lunch and then be divided in to two groups for sectional rehearsals. The men will go one way and the women will go the other. After some time of “note chasing” we will come back together and see what we have caught. This is an exciting time for our music ministry at First Baptist Church and I am excited to see what God will do with our efforts. I look forward to the Christmas season and beyond. We ARE Here by His Design! We will meet after rehearsal Tonight . Thank you!

FIRST BAPTIST

CHURCH

OCTOBER 26, 2011

A Weekly Newsletter for The Sanctuary Choir of First Baptist Church

Do you ever stop to think how wonderful it is to

proclaim of the Word of God, the Bible? Do you thank

God for allowing you to be a part of the Music Ministry?

Isn’t it wonderful to be called of God to serve Him in a

specific way?

You may utter silently, “I sing in the choir, but

I’m no great singer.” “I do my best, most of the time, and I

trust God uses me, but I’m not anyone special!”

And yet, you are! You are a person who has

given himself/herself to the task of preparing to lead

worship to a congregation who needs you. You are

very special in my eyes and in God’s eyes. So may I

encourage you to continue and to do your very best

for God’s glory.

It may not come easy. You have to prepare, you have to learn new ways, and

you have to pray harder than you ever had to before. And then God takes your ordi-

nary words and makes them what He wishes the congregation to hear. I praise God

for you, and I know also that you say, “To God Be The Glory”!

In 1 Chronicles 16:28-29, the Bible says, “Give unto the LORD, ye kindreds of

the people, give unto the LORD glory and strength. Give unto the LORD the glory

due unto his name: bring an offering, and come before him: worship the LORD in

the beauty of holiness.”

We have much to bring to the worship of our Lord, but we also must rehearse

what we are to present to Him and His people. The opportunity for intense Christ-

mas music rehearsal is scheduled for Sunday, November 6 from Noon to 3:00 p.m.

We will meet in the Fellowship Hall to eat lunch and then be divided in to two

groups for sectional rehearsals. The men will go one way and the women will go the

other. After some time of “note chasing” we will come back together and see what

we have caught.

This is an exciting time for our music ministry at First Baptist Church and I am

excited to see what God will do with our efforts. I look forward to the Christmas

season and beyond.

We ARE Here by His Design! We will

meet after

rehearsal

Tonight .

Thank you!

Did You Know?

Question: What were sheep

doing at the White House?

Scripture: Psalm 23:1-4

T here are a few things you may

not know about sheep. In 1917, a

small flock lived on the White

House lawn. They were President Wood-

row Wilson's idea, so that the lawn could

stay trimmed without using valuable

manpower that was needed during World

War 1. When the sheep also ate some of

the beautiful landscaping, like the bushes

and flowers on the White House lawn,

people objected. But Mrs. Wilson

pointed out that the sheep had provided

ninety-eight pounds of wool that had

been auctioned to make a contribution to

the Red Cross.

Sheep are also responsible for giving

us the phrase about "knocking the tar"

out of something. Long ago, when sheep

received accidental cuts during shearing,

tar was smeared on the wound. This

helped to prevent infection, but it made a

mess by sticking to the wool. Before the

wool could be sold, the shearer had to

"knock the tar" out of it.

Another interesting fact about sheep

is that they are afraid to drink from run-

ning water. It doesn't seem reasonable for

sheep to avoid a flowing stream when

they're thirsty. Remember, though, that

some fears of humans don't make sense

either.

So What? God understands your feelings. He

wants to take your hand and take you to a

stronger place. He knows your deepest

fears and knows that they bother you. He

wants to help you to become more trust-

ing of his protection. He will do this in a

gentle way if you'll only allow him to.

Think of Jesus as a shepherd and

yourself as one of those frightened sheep.

The Bible tells us how Jesus will take

care of you. It says:

“The Lord is my shepherd; I have

everything I need. He lets me rest in

green meadows; he leads me beside

peaceful streams. He renews my

strength. He guides me along right

paths, bringing honor to his name.

Even when I walk through the dark

valley of death, I will not be afraid,

for you are close beside me.”

—PSALM 23:1-4, NLT

If Jesus is so sensitive to what a

sheep needs and will take such good care

of it, imagine how much more precious

you are to him. Let him lead you to quiet

places where your soul can relax and you

can be refreshed.
