NEWBORN SESSIONSCAPTURE THE MAGIC OF YOUR PRECIOUS BABY

Newborn sessions are best shot when a baby is between 5 and 14 days old. These sessions typically last 2-3 hours, and sometimes up to 4. Newborn sessions include traditional sleeping newborn poses, family shots and sibling shots (if desired).

On the day of your session, planto arrive around 10 minutes early.

When dressing baby for the trip tothe studio, dress them only in aonsie, use blankets (generously!)to keep them warm. No socks or clothes that may mark the skin.clothes that may mark the skin.

When you arrive we will get babyin nothing but a diaper and swaddlethem in a wrap.

This is when you will feed yourbaby! We want them happy, warm, and full. They will usually go right to sleep.sleep.

This is when I take over. I ask momto have a seat, baby may fuss onoccasion but I promise, if it’s something I can’t handle-I’ll definitely let you know!

Shhhh! Sleepy

What to wear

Dad & Older SiblingsDad is best in neutral fitted clothing. Button up shirts are fine, also consider a plain fitted tee. It doesn’t have tobe overly dressy. Choose something that compliments yourpartners outfit choice, but you don’t have to “match.” exactly. I discourage stripes, plaid, or shirts withwriting. Follow these tips for older sigblings as well

The time after a new babyarrives is stressful and a lotof mothers don’t feel like they look their best.

I’m here to tell you, motherhood is beautiful, motherhood is beautiful, and it looks great on you.

It’s not required for familymembers to be involved ina session, but I highly encourage it. Trust me, I knowhow to pose new mothers, allyou’ll notice is thatyou’ll notice is thatbeautiful new mommyglow and the connection between you and your beautiful new baby!

I encourage my mothers to wear well fitting neutral topsand well fitting butand well fitting butcomfortable bottoms (jeans/skirts)

General Tips & Information*Nursing Moms-For 24 hours before your session please avoid or limit dairy, broccoli

and spicy foods.

*Don’t try to keep baby awake, let them fall into their own natural routine. We will

work around them. Keeping baby awake before the session may lead them to be

over-tired and actually make it harder for them to go to sleep!

*TO BINK OR NOT TO BINK? That IS the question! Even if you don’t plan to give

your baby a pacifier I always suggest bringing one to the session to help with soothing. your baby a pacifier I always suggest bringing one to the session to help with soothing.

As a mother who nursed I am aware of the risk of nipple confusion caused by introducing

a breast fed baby to a pacifier too early. I assure you that the binky is the last attempt

and is only used for seconds at a time. By the time your baby is scheduled for it’s session

the latch should be well established and there should be no risk. However, it’s entirely

at Mom’s discretion. If you absolutely don’t want a pacifier, that is entirely your choice

and we will find a way without one!

* * Cluster Feeding- Nursed babies tend to cluster feed around the 10th day of age to

aid in increasing Mom’s milk supply. For this reason, breast fed babies are usually best

scheduled for their session before the seventh day or after the 12th day. Forumla fed babies

are best sooner than later as they tend to hit a growth spurt between 12-14 days and want to

eat more and sleep less.

...Continued*Older siblings- It’s encouraged for you to bring something to occupy older siblings.

as stated earlier the session is a minimum of 2 hours, and sometimes older siblings can

get bored in between their times to be in the pictures! If a child is very young (under 5)

I often encourage a grand parent or family friend to attend the session as well and then

we can do the family, and sibling shots first, then big brother or sister can go do something

more fun while we take the individual shots of baby! This is entirely at the parent’s

discretion. Only you know if your child will be okay for the entirety of the session time. discretion. Only you know if your child will be okay for the entirety of the session time.

Don’t forget the snacks!

*RELAX! I can’t stress enough how important it is not to stress. Babies are very intuitive

by nature and can sense when anyone around them is tense. The most important thing to

remember is that THEY make the rules today. We work on their schedule. This is why,

although we will attempt EVERY typical newborn session pose, I can not guarentee a

specific pose. Most of the time, we get all of them, but sometimes baby just isn’t happy

with certain positions, and that’s okay. The important thing to remember is that your with certain positions, and that’s okay. The important thing to remember is that your

images will be beautiful, and baby is happy. :)

* Last, but not least, Call me! If there’s something that you’re concerned about,

or something I forgot to mention or answer, just call/text/message me anytime!
