The gila monster is a reptile and has scales. It is a lizard. It has teeth. The gila monster slithers and walks. It does not run. It is 60 centimeters or 2 feet. It is oviparous. It has beautiful warning colors and venom. It makes weird sounds like ccccccC.

Habitat

The gila monster is a desert critter. It lives in the northern Sonora desert in Mexico and in parts of California.

Diet

The gila monster is mostly a carnivore. It poisons and swallows its prey whole. It only eats 3 to 4 meals a year.

Behavior

The gila monster fights. The gila monster hides in its burrow to cool down because its skin is very sensitive. It comes out of the ground 3 times a year and basks in the sun.

Defense

The gila monster mostly defends itself with its poison. It bites and tries to attack.

Conclusion

My animal is important because it keeps the rodent population down.
