1.0 NATIONAL ATHLETICS FEDERATION

Welcome to Wales for the 4th edition

of the IAU Trail World

Championships. We are proud to be hosting this

prestigious event and look forward to welcoming athletes from across

the globe to the County of Conwy in North Wales. The area has

previously held major sporting events such as the Commonwealth

Mountain & Ultra Distance Championships in 2011 and is home to many outdoor activity

attractions.

The event HQ is the seaside Victorian town of Llandudno, with the Championships held 15 miles (25km) south on the outskirts of the

town of Llanrwst, which is situated in the Conwy Valley, alongside the River Conwy.

The event will be situated just over the bridge from the town centre- the bridge is

a 17th century stone bridge – and there

lies Tu Hwnt i'r Bont, formerly a courthouse in the 15th century. Close by

is Gwydir Castle – a privately owned Grade I listed building with around 10

acres of gardens and is a good example of a Tudor courtyard house. Towering above,

on the edge of the Snowdonai Natioanl Park, is the Gwydyr Forest where the

racing will take place on a scenic challenging lap.
