How do I connect the event audio to the captioner?

Conference call

• For small events, set up a conference call and include the captioner on the call. • Everyone needs to speak clearly and individually so the captioner can hear everyone clearly.

Sound system

• For larger events, connect a telephone line to the sound system. • Provide the captioner with a phone number to call to listen to the audio.

VoIP • If no phones are available, you can use the internet. • Skype, Google Voice, Cisco TelePresence and Ekig are some free VoIP options. • VoIP can send the audio to the captioner. • Using an external mic or sitting close to the computer's internal mic allow the captioner to hear what’s being said, enabling the creation of quality captions.

Online Meeting Software • Online meeting software includes Adobe Connect Pro, WebEx, Google Hangouts and more. • Better-quality audio yields better-quality captions. •Providethecaptionerwithlog-ininformation,and the captioner will listen to the meeting along with other participants.

Four options for connecting audio to the captioner:

1. Conference phone.2. Connect a sound system to the telephone line.3. VoIP. (Voice over Internet Protocol)4. Online meeting software, such as WebEx, Adobe Connect Pro, and other meeting platforms.



How do I receive the captions?

• Live captions received using standard internet browsers.

•Event-specificURLscreatedandemailedpriortoeveryLNSevent.

• Live captions are pre-tested and clickable through the emailed hyperlink.

How do I save the text from the event?• Click in the window where the text is displayed,

• “Ctrl A” to select all text

• “Ctrl C” to copy the text.

• Open a new document, such as Microsoft Word.

• “Ctrl V” to paste the text.

• Wait until the event is completed to copy the entire text.

To hide the toolbar at the top of the page, click on the text at the bottom-right of the window that says “Show/Hide Header.”

How do I hide the display change toolbar at the top of the page?

• Allows participants to view live captioning in an Adobe Connect Pro event.

•Thisprogramletsthevieweradjustthesizeandpositioningofthewindows,includingthelivestreaming captioning window.

Adobe Connect Pro:

•AllowsparticipantstoviewlivecaptioninginaWebExevent.

•TheMediaVieweratthebottomrightofthewindowshowsthelivestreamingcaptionswithout obstructing the large display available for the presenter’s PowerPoint presentation.

•Vieweroptionsincludehidingthewindowwithoutaffectingotherviewers.

• Present event and LNS Webstream captions using seperate browsers if necessary.

• Size each window next to one another as shown above. You can control the size and placement ofthewindowstofityourpresentationneeds.

• You can also use a second monitor, if available, to view the captions while attending your meeting.

How do I present the captions if my GoTo, LiveStream or other meeting platform

software won’t embed them?

You know, it’s a privilege I never could have imagined about 33 years ago, when as a young man, I loaded up an old car and took off on a

voyage to Portland. A city I had heard about and a dream I had of making my life in a unique and promissing place. Today I’m asking each one of you join with me on a

collective journey, a journey that arrives at Portland becoming an even greater city, making good on

that promise I saw and hoped for.A city with more family-wage jobs, with great schools, with justice and hope for us all.And with an excellent quality of life in every Portland neighborhood.And my favorite one about speeches, the three

rules. Be brief, be sincere, be seated. I am going to follow that advice in a minute. But before I do,

let me make an additional promise. I mentioned

how much I liked going door to door, knocking on all those doors, learning so much from listening to

the folks that I had those conversations with. As mayor, your time is in constant demand but it’s my

intention to devote a few hours every month to continuing to go door to door, so I can hear

firsthand unfiltered the concerns of Portland residents.I am addicted to door to door.I am going to stick with it.[Applause]
