I offIcIally declare that it’s time for short-to-no sleeves and open-toed shoes season! After all, Easter is just around the corner and that, my friends, is a good reason to shop! What’ll it be this year, ladies? Hat or no hat? Easter falls late in the month so my fingers are crossed that Mother Nature will be ready to cooperate and bring us some warmer temperatures to enjoy the holiday this year. Either way,

it’s still a great excuse to shop. (Did I say that already?!)

I hope you were all able to enjoy your Spring Break. Maybe you did something fun or maybe you just stuck close to home like we did this year and caught up on a little quality, family time. I like to go and I like to do. I rarely slow down so it was nice to just hit the brakes and love my children and hang out. I got to hang with my “biggest” kid, my husband, which was long overdue. Sometimes I think he needs more attention than my babies. But, secretly I think I like it that way!

Update on my mission for positivity: I am happy to report that things are still sunny for me. It hasn’t been easy and I haven’t done it alone. I’ve been spending my mornings with God and al-lowing Him to lead. It’s funny. I’ve spent so many years of my life worrying about so many things that I’ve never had control of, and now that I’ve finally learned to turn those worries over and let go my life feels brand new. It has been a very “freeing” experience, to say the least. I hope you, too, can experience a little freedom in the same way that I have. If you’re in need of some extra en-couragement or wisdom then look no further than any one of the many Easter services advertised this month. There are so many in our area and boy is there a good story to tell. Who knows? It just might change your life!

Also, we ended up with so many great deals in this issue of Local Life, we ran out of room. We’ll have all of the winners of our Local Life Beautiful Baby Contest in next month’s Mother’s Day issue.

That subliminal, unspoken that undoubtedly will have others forming an opinion about your home whether you like it or not! Plus, if you’re selling a home, great curb appeal typically will result in more “showings” than a home that leaves a dull taste. Showing’s result in a quicker sale and hopefully, more money!

You’re looking for that “WOW” factor. Is there a definite distinction in your home than others on the block? There should be. The great thing is that it’s really an easy and affordable upgrade you can make that will have a ton of impact. Our mission is to get those that drive by, whether you’re selling or not, to just tap the brakes ever so slightly in order to look one more time at the wonderful curb appeal your home has. Here are just a few tips that can have you on your way to a fresher, more appealing front view:

The YardOK, so you have to keep it mowed – no brainer. This includes removing all weeds, trimming the hedges and shrubs, and take the extra 10 minutes to edge – trust me! Remove any and all clutter and debris from the yard. Hopefully, there’s no “fixer-upper” car on blocks, but if there is it’s time for it to go. (At least if you’re selling.) Toys tend to get left out, like balls and bikes. Let’s get rid of those. Fresh mulch always helps and is an inexpensive upgrade. Add some color by planting flowers and don’t forget the water. Nothing says pride in ownership like a plush green yard.

PaintWhere possible, painting the entire home is always a plus, but that also drives up the cost. If you can’t swing painting everything then focus on a few key areas. Most important is your front door and any gutters & downspouts. Painting these two things alone will dramatically change the view. Next, focus on outdoor light fixtures, wrought-iron railings, and even yard art. Window trimmings are also good areas to paint without investing too much.

Soap & WaterThere are few things that relate to cleanliness better than good old-fashioned soap & water. Step it up a notch and rent/buy a high output pressure-washer. Use it on eaves and under-hangs. Attack any cobwebs, wasp nests, or general discolorations from dirt or mildew. Next, hit the sidewalks, patio/porch, and driveway. Your garage door could also use a good once-over with your new power tool. A good pressure-washer can literally transform a home into looking brand new again.

LightingConsider updating your outdoor light fixtures. Chances our styles have changed since the original build or last time they were updated. Also, check to see if additional lighting would make a difference. Floodlights, walkway lighting, or simple decorative lighting for a porch/patio area can make all of the

difference in the world. Just make sure there is a consistency to the hue of your lighting. Use similar color and wattage throughout your lighting palate.

MiscellaneousAn intelligently placed decorative piece just might be the one final touch your curb appeal is lacking. Yard art, a bench or swing, or even a tasteful sculpture or birdbath can really spruce up your appeal. Just remember, subtle is the key here. Always err on the side of “less is more”. Your fantastic taste may not be shared with the person writing the check to buy, so minimal is the key. Never over do art, and certainly never go for radical statements. (Unless you’re not selling, then go as crazy as you’d like! It’s your home!)

All in all, curb appeal speaks volumes to the shape and care of your home. It makes statements such as pride in ownership and care for your neighborhood. These are just a few small changes you can make to your home that will have massive results when it comes to the exterior presence of your little humble abode. One of the most rewarding things about updating your curb appeal could just be the family time spent making the changes. Make it a family project. Make it something that culminates with you and yours standing in the street, looking up in amazement, with the sense of accomplishment that you and your family so much deserve. You should be proud of your home. It’s yours. You’ve done it. You’ve built it. Be proud, homeowner! Now, go crank that mower and break out the paintbrushes. You’ve got work to do!

DEVILED EGGS

YOU’LL NEED:6 large hard-boiled eggs

Salt and black pepper

2 tbsp Miracle Whip (I prefer Miracle Whip) or 2 tbsp mayonnaise

1 tsp prepared yellow mustard

2 tbsp sweet pickle relish

Paprika

DIRECTIONS:1. Peel shells off cooled hard-boiled

eggs; slice into halves lengthwise.

2. Remove yolks from whites and place in a small round bowl.

3. Mash yolks with a fork into fine pieces.

4. Add 2 heaping tablespoons Miracle Whip salad dressing, yellow mus-tard, sweet pickle relish, and salt and black pepper to taste.

5. Stir mixture until creamy.

6. Spoon mixture into a zip-lock sandwich bag; seal bag and snip off one corner of the bag.

7. Squeeze mixture out of corner of bag into egg white halves.

8. Sprinkle tops of filled deviled eggs with paprika.

9. Chill in refrigerator 1 to 2 hours or until cold before serving.

Oral Cancer On The Rise And Striking Younger!As of 2012, cancer has been the leading cause of death in the world. 1 of every 2 men and 1 of every 3 women will develop cancer in their lifetime. Patrick Worley is originally from Joshua, TX. He earned an Associate’s Degree in applied Science in air conditioning in 2001. Patrick has extensive experience working in the maintenance department and acting as the facilities manager for an area hospital. At the same time, he helped start an air conditioning and heating business. He just finished his Master’s from the University of Phoenix in Business Administration.

Suzanne Worley is originally from Seattle and moved to Texas in 2002. She left her job as Vice President of Operations for an aerospace company to play a more invested role in her four children’s lives.

How did you learn about the brand?We wanted to start a family business that we could pass down to our children and help others through the process. I started looking

into various opportunities, and after a lot of research, I felt that franchising was the best opportunity. While teaching at the Tarrant County Community College, a colleague had mentioned the idea of franchising.

Why did you choose an opportunity with Aire Serv?We decided to go with Aire Serv because of the company’s values and ethics. Their business practices really aligned with our lifestyle.
