2010-2011 DUES Dues for all members of Connellsville Lodge #503
were due by April 1, 2010. Liquor Control statutes prohibit any member admission to the bar after April 1, 2010 with-out a paid 2010-2011 membership card.
Members who would like their cards mailed to them must provide a stamp or stamped envelope. If paying at the bar please provide your phone #, mailing address and email address in order to keep our records up to date. Key-cards are not mailed but can be picked up at the bar when you present your new membership card. Keycards are given to members only, no wives etc. ID cards are available for widows and spouses only and must be requested.
Please don’t forget your donations to the Home Service program and National Foundation, they are tax de-ductible. Special stickers will be placed on donors cards.

MEMBERSHIP PROCEDURES Many members seem uncertain about the rules for signing up new members, transfers etc. The initiation fee for a pro-
spective member is $40.00 for persons 26 and up and $30.00 for persons 21-25 years of age. A new member must also pay prorated dues depending on the month he is initiated. Each new member receives a letter explaining the money that is owed. Applications for membership
are available at the bar. Applications submitted must be filled out in full, must have the proposer’s and candidate’s signature and must have a deposit of at least $20.00. A proposer must be an Elk in good standing. Candidates are voted upon at the first meeting after his or her name is read at a meeting and his or her name has been published in the bulletin. Candidates must attend Indoctrination and Initiation which are held three times a year, usually February, June and October. Members who wish to transfer into our Lodge must fill out an application of affiliation which is available at the bar. Transfer fee is $30.00 and there is no charge for dues if the person is paid up at his or her current Lodge. If the member is delinquent in his or her current Lodge the full dues of $40.00 must also be paid. Transfers are voted upon at the first meeting after his or her name is read at a meeting and his or her name has been published in the bulletin. Previous members of Connellsville Lodge may reinstate their membership by filling out a reinstatement application (available at the bar). They must also pay a reinstatement fee of $30.00 and dues prorated to the month they are rein-stated. They must be proposed by a member in good stand-ing. Reinstatements are voted upon at the first meeting after his or her name is read at a meeting and his or her name has been published in the bulletin. YOUTH RECOGNITION LUNCHEON Brandon Routzahn was recognized as the Connellsville Elks Student/Athlete of the Year at the Student Recognition luncheon held at the Lodge. Brandon won the U-8 local, Southwest District and Pennsylvania State Soccer Shoots and finished 4th at the Atlantic Regional competition.
Youth Chairman Dick Witt PER introduced the Students of the Month from Connellsville Area, Counselor Leo Lowney in-troduced the Geibel students and Counselor Eric DiCiannna intro-duced the students from the Con-nellsville Area Career and Techni-cal Center. Southwest District Hoop Shoot Director David Pular recog-
nized former State Champion and two time District Cham-pion Madison Wiltrout. He also recognized District Soccer Shoot champions Angela Bloom, Bailey Cartwright, Colby Fiesta, Morgan Green, Brandan Routzahn and Allison Za-vatchen. Grand Lodge Americanism Committee Member Ron Hawkins PSP announced that Abbey Sitko had won the local and District Americanism Essay contest and had finished 3rd in the State. He also recognized the Drug Awareness Poster and Essay contest winners Amanda Antol, Trevin Keteles, Katie Grenell and Nicholas Jacobyansky. Amanda, Katie and Nicho-las were also District winners. Guest speaker for the luncheon was Bruce Jaynes Assis-tant Principal at CACTC. All students of the month and poster and essay winners will receive savings bonds.

PA ELKS HOME SERVICE PROGRAM
Since 1963, the PA Elks Home Service Program has been helping to improve the quality of life for thousands of children and adults through-out Pennsylvania. We provide support and advocacy services to indi-viduals of any age who have a developmental disability.
Last year, your nurses drove 332,117 miles and made 14,513 home service visits, helping families in every county in Pennsylvania.
Services are provided:
• by a Nurse and/or Medical Care Coordinator • to Pennsylvania residents • in the person's home environment • without discrimination • at NO CHARGE
Lodge News • Tee Sponsors and patrons are needed for the Annual PER
Golf Outing in August. The $50.00 sponsor fee or $25.00 patron fee can be mailed to the Lodge at PO Box 813, Connellsville PA 15425 or paid at the bar.
• We still have over 150 members who have not paid their dues for 2010-2011. Dues notices are published in the bulletins and a personal dues notice is not mailed out until July. Dues for all members are due prior to April 1st of the year. The names of delinquent members are posted at the bar and members can call 724-628-4237 to inquire about their membership status.
• The Centennial Room at the Connellsville Elks is now available for rental using outside caterers or our own kitchen staff. The back room in the bar area is also avail-able for small parties. Contact Gloria at 724-628-3560 or Gary Barker at 724-880-4372 for information.
• We are considering accepting advertising for the printed and online bulletins. Business ads and patron ads will be accepted. The bulletin is published monthly.
• The Entertainment Committee is hosting special bar events on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of the month. On Mon-day, July 5th we will have a Shrimp Nite with a Coors Lite beer special. On Monday, June 19th we will have a Stadium Nite with hotdogs, hamburgers and a Bud Light beer spe-cial.
• The Grand Lodge Convention will be held at Orlando FL on July 4-8, 2010. Attending will be PSP Ron and Donna Hawkins, PER Dick and Carol Witt and Secretary David Pular.
• Our Lodge will sponsor two high school athletes in the Elks Tournament of Champions to be held at Seven Springs Resort on July 25-27.
• The Nite at the Races has been cancelled. Anyone who bought a horse can get a refund at the bar.
• All contributors to the Home Service fund and Elks Na-tional Foundation are recognized on the bar bulletin board.
• Bartenders will refuse service to any member without a paid 2010-2011 membership card.
• Thank you to the workers who helped with the various activities in June, including Bar Poker, Wing and Steak crews, the special Monday night events, the Block Party and the Student Luncheon.
• The Lodge will be closed in observance of Independence Day on July 4th.
• Mark Your Calendars: Elkfest kicks off with the PER Golf Outing on July 7th and ends with our Outdoor Beach Party, Saturday, August 14th with events everyday in between. The Lodge Picnic will be held in September at a date to be determined.
• Volunteers are needed for our weekly Wing Nites and our monthly Steak Frys. We are able to keep the prices low by using volunteers, but more volunteers are needed. If inter-ested please contact Dave Nedrow or any House Commit-tee member. Or you can call the Lodge office at 724-628-4237.
• Connellsville Elks Gift Certificates make an excellent gift. Request your certificates at the bar.
• Members and friends who have digital photos of Elk events are asked to download them to a thumb drive or email to us at [email protected] so that we can use them for the online bulletin or the TV displays in the bar.
• Members and friends can view the works of Elkdom at the Grand Lodge www.elks.org and the Pennsylvania Elks
