SECRETARY’S MESSAGE

We had a great turnout for District

us with an excellent evaluation. He emphasized that #299 is thriving. The lasagna was great, thanks to Chef Kevin and PER Paul Soffa. An added delight was the Culver's Custard, due to the efforts of Ken Horkan. We all enjoyed DJ Ken Rishel. Again, we'll be Initiating 18 people on Tuesday, November 30, at 7 p.m. Our next Initiation will probably be on State President's Night, which is March 12. We recently received a generous donation from the estate of Richard Corcoran, earmarked for the Elks #299 Foundation. It would be great if others would consider this opportunity when doing their estate planning.

ELKS ADOPT A FAMILY 2021 We are hoping that you are all making plans on how you can help support the “Elks Adopt a Family” again this year which will be held on Saturday, December 18th, from 9:00 AM – Noon.

Due to member feedback, the “Giving Tree” will be returning this year. We will be color coding ornaments to represent how many people are in your “Adopted Family”. This will help you determine if you want to sponsor the family on your own or find another “Elks Family” to co-sponsor with.

New this year you will also find envelopes tied to the tree which can be used for monetary donations that would go toward providing families with ESSENTIAL items such as socks, underwear, hats, mittens, and toiletries.

With the current pandemic and social distancing precautions, we will again not be able to host the families at the

them with a meal to take with them to enjoy that day.

Volunteers are needed to help deliver, load cars, help with meal preparation and other tasks that day. Be on the lookout for sign-up sheets at the lodge and additional information through email blasts.

Last year was a remarkable success and we are confident, with everyone’s help and support during this project, we will be able to provide the “Christmas Magic” to those who are less fortunate.

We hope you can volunteer in any way to help with this great community service project. ELKS CARE – ELKS SHARE

Lew Conway Memorial Youth Scholarship Bowling Tournament Dear Fellow Elk Members; On January 15th & 16th, 2022, our Sheboygan Elks Club will sponsor a youth scholarship bowling tournament properly named after Lew Conway. Lew was a major promoter of our Elk’s Youth Bowling Program. The Gridiron has graciously donated a large

one of our area’s classiest events to show our community that Elks care! To this goal, we are asking for your help in promoting

more scholarship money, we will increase parents’ commitment to enter their children in this tournament. This will, in return, again raise more scholarship money through entries which will also increase the number of family members that will come to our Elks Club to watch. This will benefit our Elk’s Club in bar and restaurant proceeds. This is a win, win situation! We are asking businesses and individuals to help in promoting this worthy cause. There is no better tax deductible donation you can make than to a youth sporting event that promotes higher education through scholarships. All donors will be listed on

23rd, 2021 so that we can get the tournament advertising made and displayed in December. Thank you. Elk’s Youth Tournament Committee
