Patch CordsFiber optic patch cord is one of most commonly used components in fiber optic network. They are used for linking the equipment and components in the fiber optic network. They are of various types depending on the connectors used. Some of the types of connectors are SC, ST, FC, LC, E2000 & MTRJ. Typical fiber optic patch cord cable diameter can be 0.9mm, 2mm, or 3mm. Depending on the network and application, we supply single mode and multimode patch cords.

PigtailsFiber pigtail is a piece of fiber optic cable with only one fiber optic connector on one side of the cable typically used to link the fiber optic cable with fiber optic equipment while the other side of the pigtail is spliced to the fiber usually inside an ODF unit. Depending on the application they can be single mode and multimode fiber optic pigtails. Pigtails are further classified depending on the connectors used. Some of the different types are SC, FC, ST, LC, MTRJ, E2000, etc.

Adaptors and connectorsFiber optic adapters are also called mating sleeves. They are used to connect optical connectors of same type, such as FC, SC and ST. Features:• 4.8 or 3.0 mm diameter ruggedized simplex cordage• Less than 0.1 dB macrobending attenuation at 1550

nm for 1 turn at 5 mm fiber bend radius• Solid construction fiber with macrobending

performance far better than ITU G.657B requirements• Backward compatible with installed G.652D fibers• Conform to UL® Riser and Plenum fire ratings• Compliant with Telcordia 409 & ICEA S-85-596

requirements• Featuring EZ-Bend Optical Technology, a breakthrough

developed by OFS Labs

Benefits:• “Copper-like”installationprocess: Can be routed

around corners using familiar copper wire practices• Faster, easierinstallation: no extra steps to install

bend limiters,conduits, or raceways

• Compact installation and storage: Conforms to building; slack fits in small storage spaces

• Fast, easy, low losssplicing to G.652D fiber with existing core and clad aligned splice equipment

• Familiar, standard connector termination: Solid fiber construction can be terminated using standard optical connectors and polishing techniques

• Familiar connector endface cleaning using same process as with existing G.652 solid construction fiber

• MDUandin-homeoptimized: Ideal for in-residence wiring and difficult installation routes in MDU overbuilds

• Greener Solution: Free of heavy metals and RoHS-compliant; solution uses less total materials and energy than copper solutions

Bend Insensitive Drop Cables EZ-Bend™ Optical Cables help speed and simplify indoor optical drop cable installations using breakthrough technology pioneered by OFS. They can be routed around corners and stapled* using traditional fast and easy copper wire installation practices, with negligible signal loss. Ideal for aggressive routing environments where space is at a premium, EZ-Bend Cables offer reliable support forMDU drop and in-homewiring applications, and can support great-quality high-definition television (HDTV), on-demand video, ultra high speed data, voice, online gaming and many other revenue-generating services.

The EZ-Bend Optical Technology can provide up to a 100-fold improvement in bending performance over conventional single-mode fiber (SMF) optical cables, to help avoid service disruptions and lower installation costs. Conventional optical fiber technologies require large bend radii to function properly, complicating the installation process. The EZ-Bend Technology enables in-residence optical cable installation with the same simple practices used for copper or coaxial cables. Cables using EZ-Bend Technology can be stapled in place using existing copper cable installation tools and routed around corners.

Suzhou Furukawa Power Optic Cable Co., Ltd. (SFPOC) is a joint venture between Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd. (FEC) and Etern Group Co., Ltd. with the controlling share of SFPOC is held by the FEC in Japan. SFPOC specializes in OPGW design, manufacturing, sales, accessories, technical support, installation training and comprehensive after service. Suzhou Furukawa Power Optic Cable Company (SFPOC) has been manufacturing OPGW in its state of the art modern factory near Shanghai since 2002. The company of Furukawa that manufactures optical fiber is known as OFS which was earlier known as AT&T/Lucent fiber. OFS fiber is used in OPGW manufactured by its sister company SFPOC.

SFPOC strictly implements QC system in accordance with ISO9001-2008 and Environment management system in accordance with ISO14001-2004. SFPOC makes OPGW meeting the most stringent quality standards and it is testimony of this that almost 50% of the cables manufactured by them cater to international markets. Having successfully made inroads into the USA, Canadian and Australian markets, SFPOC are also focusing on the Middle East market where they have already successfully executed a few projects recently. With a total worldwide supply record of 58,000 km of OPGW, SFPOC continues its expansion giving its high quality and advanced technology. The current capacity of SFPOC is 18,000 kms per annum. New products and technologies are being developed to manufacture cables with better performance such as dual tube (SUS+AL) based OPGW and trapezoidal shaped OPGW.

SFPOC can deliver OPGW cables within the usual reasonable lead time without any disruption in our operations. SFPOC uses stainless steel optical tube which provides high degree of fiber excess length and strain margin. This enables the OPGW to withstand high tension without any stress and strain on the fibers. Various designs of OPGW cable offered by SFPOC have been type tested according to the IEEE and IEC specification.

In SFPOC, OPGW is custom designed based on the specific requirement of each project. The manufacturing unit has the capability to manufacture OPGW of upto 144 fibres.

12. OPGW Cable and Accessories

EZ Bend Cable AssembliesThe robust, leading-edge EZ-Bend Assemblies offer all the advantages of bend-insensitive EZ-Bend Cables plus the benefits ts of factory-tuned termination. OFS’ EZ-Bend Assemblies allow for customization (i.e, cable diameter and construction, cable length, and termination type) and help save time and money on installation. Their innovative design can conquer sharp corners, moldings, and stapling, and provide an ideal solution for MDU and in-home wiring applications where space is at a premium.
