I was born just outside London. After studying Fine Art and Photography I worked as a studio photographer before moving to Cape Town to study Cinematography. After graduating from film school I began my career in the film industry as a Digital Imaging Technician. Being one of the first to work in this position in Cape Town I enjoyed a career close to camera, providing support to successful DP’s on the latest digital technologies, and becoming a local favorite to DP’s such as Anthony Dod Mantle. During this period I worked for most of the largest commercials production companies, such as Moonlighting, Farm Films, Velocity, Orange Films, etc. A few years ago I began to focus on my goal as Director of Photography. This decision has seen me lensing commercials for companies such as Giant Films, Silverlining Productions, Casta Diva, Bang Bang Films, etc. for clients as big as Coca Cola. As well as remaining dedicated to creating award winning independent film with a focus on festival releases, winning local awards such as a 2015 SAFTA and various international awards at festival. In the past year I have combined my technical knowledge, creative eye and love for the mountains working on sponsored mountain sport documentaries for The African Attachment. This takes me to remote locations around the world carrying full camera packages in my pack to create engaging cinematic narratives. These productions have enforced some key filmmaking values in me, including working fast and efficiently, being prepared and having knowledge of all the gear I am carrying, and maintaining an internationally acclaimed standard of images in harsh conditions. These are skills are contributing to my films and commercials alike. This has led to me recently DPing for Academy Award winning director Morgan Neville.
