It was during the Depression the Nazis started to use political advertising (propaganda) to promote their ideas about what would solve Germany’s financial problems.

Example: How did you know that the Xbox 360 was worth having before you played one?

Posters were produced showing Hitler as ‘Germany’s last hope’.

Planes were used to help him travel all over Germany to tell people about his ideas.

Radio was used to help him tell everyone about his ideas.

1. End unemployment – Hitler promised to provide jobs for the Germans who had become unemployed because of the depression.

2. Tear up Treaty of Versailles – Hitler said that he would break the hated promises made after the 1st world war to make Germany great again.

3. Blame the Jews – Hitler gave the German people someone to blame for the depression. He blamed the Jews.

The Nazis came up with popular policies that appealed to many ordinary Germans.
