LOOKING BACK AT YOUR PRELIMINARY

TASK, (COLLEGE MAGAZINE) WHAT DO

YOU FEEL YOU HAVE LEARNT IN THE

PROGRESSION FROM IT TO THE FULL

PRODUCT?

Page 2: Looking back at your preliminary task, (

In the progression to the full product from my preliminary task I have learnt a lot of skills to create a final professional magazine. On my college magazine I used an image I had taken

in a library, although this looked like a good picture using a digital camera, it was not the right image for a magazine front cover, this is because of the angle it had been taken, the mast head and cover lines did not sit nicely with the image however in my final magazine

there is a perfect balance between the main image, the mast head and the cover lines which makes it look professional. I have also learnt about the design and layout, the text I had used in the preliminary task was big and the spaces were far apart, this looks tacky and not like a

magazine, I learnt how to make these letters and words closer together so they look professional and not like they have just been placed there. I also know where to place my

cover lines and main image so the Gutenberg design principle has been used and so that my magazine draws in the audience. In the preliminary task I did not use Photoshop on my

image and this makes a massive difference in what looks professional and what doesn't look professional. The spot healing tool is not just for covering spots, it makes the skin tone of the person look even and so the image looks professional, also the colouring in the image, sometimes the lighting can be to dull and you have to brighten it up, or the colours look to orange so you have to balance it with cold colours. These are all things i have learnt since i

had done my preliminary task of the college magazine.
