WELCOME!

Love God, Love all People, Make Disciples

Maybe you grew up Catholic. Maybe you think of yourself as Catholic.

Maybe you haven’t been to church in a while. Or, you are worried that you won’t be welcomed here. And maybe it feels awkward and scary to take that first

step. Question. Doubts. Yearning, but not sure for what.

We get it. We’ve been there. Now we are here. Maybe God is calling you, too. Just as you are.

Welcome home.

come you. We have been home to anyone looking to grow to spiritual maturity and deepening their faith since the

1800’s.

Come and join us and we promise we’ll make you feel right at home too.

We have been caring for people in the community for gen-erations through our Feed the Needy ministry. We’re

We have been bringing sacraments and encouragement to those in prison, homebound or in hospitals.

Our expanding youth ministry is changing the lives of young people as they grow in fellowship with each other

New Parish Bulletin

We are very pleased to introduce our newly designed

parish bulletin this weekend. We have recently entered

into a contract with Liturgical Publications (LPi) to

provide our weekly bulletin. We have chosen to make the

move to LPi because they have upgraded their services to

the most modern digital equipment available. This

technology provides us with the most vibrant and truest

colors possible for parish publications.

In addition, we have expanded the bulletin from 6 pages

of content to 10 pages which will enable us to provide you

with a more complete presentation of our parish activities

and ministries. Hopefully we will not have to resort to

using smaller and smaller printing fonts in order to get

everything into the bulletin as we have done in the past.

The change to our new bulletin format will not be an

added cost to the parish. The bulletin is provided for us

through the generosity of our sponsors/advertisers in the

back of each bulletin. With the change to the new

publisher, you will notice that there are not many local

advertisements in the bulletin this week. We would like to

introduce to you

Nik Alexander, Jessi Sallenbach and Dan Parker, who are

currently working at St. James to help our parishioners

and local businesses develop ads to support the bulletin.

Call 424.237.1548 or 424.237.1549 to talk to them.

Every year the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops set aside a Sunday in September as Catechetical Sunday. The date for this year’s Catechetical Sunday was September 11th, and the theme for the 2016-2017 catechetical year is “Prayer: The Faith Prayed” At the 10:00am Mass on that day, our pastor, Msgr. Mike commissioned all of the above volunteer teachers, aides and staff in the Religious Education Program Grades 1-8. Also, commissioned on that day was volunteer catechists from the Sunday School, Children’s RCIA and Children’s Liturgy of the Word Ministries. Please keep us in your prayers as we begin a new year! Growing in Faith

Cornerstone for Men Retreat

Cornerstone is a 26 hour

retreat allows adults to

become more actively involved

in their spiritual development.

In this dynamic retreat we see

that our story is also God’s story —both the good and

the bad—and we can understand and see ourselves and

others and how God is working in our lives.

Cornerstone is offered separately for men and women

once a year. This powerful and engaging retreat allows

us to consider our unique experience as men in the world

trying to deepen our faith. The experience will also

have a deep impact on our relationships to family and

work.

The retreat is convenient and is here at St. James on

Friday evening, 6pm November 11th and ends Saturday

evening at 8 pm.

The Cornerstone Team has made a year-long

commitment to prepare themselves for your experience.

Give yourself and your family this unique gift of yourself

as a man of faith, blessed and inspired by the mercy and

power of God’s love in your life.

Register at SaintJames.Church/Cornerstone This free

retreat is being provided for you as a gift from the men

who experienced the retreat last year. Your small leap

of faith now will become a lifetime of blessing. Take courage and become a man of faith.

Let him call for the elders of the
