    Lovers of Rizal

    (Summary)

During the year 1879 the gallant lover Rizal visited many ladies in Manila society

without seriously committing himself to anyone. He liked good conversation, and because

of his culture and intelligence, his language was colorful and poetic, sometimes spiced with

    irony significant, building compromises.

Because his romantic relationship with Leonor Rivera has been repeatedly discussed

and idealized, we sometimes forget that their relationship went though the usual phase:

    although Rizal visited Leonor.

Like other women Segunda Katigbak, Orang Valenzuela, Leonor Rivera, O-Sei-San,

Gettie Beckett, Consuelo Ortiga Y Rey, and the Boustead SistersSuzanne fell in love with

Rizal. She cried when he left toward the end of July, 1890 for Madrid, stopping for a fewdays in Paris. Rizal was involved the youngest daughter of Eduardo Boustead, and her

    name Nelly.

Nelly was a very interesting woman, with a very attractive personality, cultured and

serious. It is no wonder that Rizal was attracted to her. Rizal also had a relationship with a

Japanese woman when he was in Japan.

He was impressed by the girls cameo- like beauty, charming tenderness and high

intelligence. O-Sie-San was more than a heros sweetheart. Being an artist and linguist, she

taught Rizal the art of Japanese painting and improved his knowledge of Japanese

    language and culture.

Rizal was so charming and dignified a gentleman that Suzanne was attracted to him.

He was lonely in a strange country and Leonor Rivera was so far away. When he first met

her, Leonor was thirteen when he left for Europe sdhe was fifteen. They corresponded for

six years, but never saw each other again. Leonor was a beauty: light skin, almost white,

wavy hair, almost blond, small and gracious mouth; large, dark eyes shaded by long

eyelashes, nose of correct profile, neither to sharp nor too flat, a smile tinged with too glad

dimples in the cheeks; agreeable conversation, sweet voice, and harmonious laughter. She

was not only beautiful, but she seems to have had an unusual intellect of the kind that

would be likely to attract Rizal.

It was not long before Rizal and Josephine felt more than a more friendship for each

other. There was something in the loneliness of this Irish beauty that captivated Rizals

heart and made him yearn more and more for her company. Rizal and Josephine fell in love

with each other at first sight. After a whirl wind romance of one month, they agreed to

marry. Josephine was pregnant with Rizals child has been met with varying emotions. And

thats the story of Rizals Lovers.
