• - Location: a nipa hut, 30 meters from Rizal’s aunt’s house.
• - Paciano also studied under the teacher.
“Immediately, Jose was assigned his seat in the class. The teacher asked him:
"Do you know Spanish?""A little, sir," replied the Calamba lad."Do you know Latin?""A little, sir."
The boys in the class, especially Pedro, the teacher’s son laughed at Jose’s answers.
The teacher sharply stopped all noises and begun the lessons of the day.”
• Rizal beat up the teacher’s son, who was a bully
• Not violent in nature, but doesn’t run from a fight

• 2nd year – he moved to calle magallanes and he earned a medal.
• 3rd year – he was placed as an intern In the college.
• 4th year – he earned 5 medals
• 5th year – he made a short story (Leyenda) that was enacted at the end of the course.

Had very high scholastic records
He graduated as one of the nine Sobresalientes (outstanding students) in his class.
Upon receiving BA in Ateneo he entered UST and took philosophy in his first year
In second year he began to specialize in medicineHe was undecided of what course to take
He had taken agriculture in Ateneo while he was specializing medicine

– Campus was suffocating to his sensitive spirit
– Dominican professors were hostile to him
– Racial discrimination– Methods of teaching
were obsolete and repressive
