ABSTRACT
A study was undertaken to design and construct a low-lift pedal pump for use in
small irrigation project areas. Prepared a conceptually simple water pump that will be easy
to maintain and repair using basic tools while providing enough water flow to irrigate a
small plot of farm land has prepared a conceptually simple water pump that will be easy to
maintain while providing enough water flow to irrigate a small plot of farm land. It was
found from study that the present structural design, the operation of the pump is tedious and
at the same time very ineffective, which needs necessary modifications. Design and
construct of pedal operated water pump is used in small irrigation and garden irrigation. The
pedal operated pump can be construct using local material and skill. Provides irrigation and
drinking water where electricity is not available. They can be built using locally available
materials and can be easily adapted to suit the needs of local people. They free the user from
rising energy costs, can be used anywhere, produce no pollution and provide healthy
exercise. The problem of energy crises is very big in India and many rural powered water
pumps by use of this project we save electricity and get a particular water head and we
supply the water in irrigation. We will operate a water pump by using bicycle mechanism in
the project and we can fill the water tank of housing power and get construction work. As
this pedal power water pump prototype has a great performance efficiency and help to work
out at all irrigations fields for their needs. This pump has a discharge of nearly 25- 30 LPM.
