SongwriterSeries MONDAYS & WEDNESDAYSMONDAYS & WEDNESDAYSMONDAYS & WEDNESDAYS

For our songwriter series, Papa Charlie’s transforms into a listening room showcasing the Midwest’s top songwriters in a theater-like setting. The intimate room and great sound gives the audience an opportunity to immerse into the stories and craft of the song.

Please Note: In an effort to create the listening room environment, we ask all guests in the main room to limit conversation during the performance. Guests looking for casual dining and conversation may be seated in the adjoining Mountain View Grill.

MOLLY MAHER - MONDAY, FEBRUARY 6Molly Maher is considered by some the reigning queen of the Twin Cities scene – she’s an incomparable singer and songwriter with compelling depth and soul. She has shared the stage with some of the best acts in the country, among them Los Lobos and John Hiatt.

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 8 - BEN KYLEBen Kyle: singer, songwriter and driving force behind the Midwest’s beloved alt-country band Romantica,

can be counted on to bring you a song brimming with melody, meaning and feeling. Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, but embracing the musical roots of North America upon his family’s emigration to

Minnesota, Kyle blends both cultures in his songwriting. Romantica is releasing their new album Shadowlands on February 10 with Papa Charlie’s as the official ‘Up North’ release party with Ben.

COMMUNIST DAUGHTER - MONDAY, FEBRUARY 13Seeped in 60's-era harmonies and expansive choruses, Johnny Solomon'supbeat arrangements are contrasted with lyrics about loss, cynicism and struggle. Molly Mooreprovides angelic harmonies that soften Solomon's pop melodies and give Communist Daughter's songs adelicately haunting, otherworldly feel. They are touring their new release The Cracks That Built The Wall across North America.

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 15 - MOORS & MCCUMBERTen years ago, two gifted musicians met, and found what they hadn’t known they were looking for: an

incredible duo. Ever since, Moors and McCumber have been cultivating the roots of their musical influences in songs that delve into love and life through haunting lyrics, soaring harmonies, and dazzling

instrumentals. A modern day version of Simon & Garfunkel or Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young.

MASON JENNINGS - MONDAY, FEBRUARY 20Mason Jennings is an American singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist. He has toured the world for close to 20 years, played on talk shows, been written about in magazines and newspapers and on blogs. His album Blood Of Man which he recorded on garage band (playing all the instruments himself) received a 4-star review in Rolling Stone.

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 22 - SARAH KRUEGERSarah Krueger is Eau Claire, WI born and Duluth, MN built. Between stretches of teaching jobs, waiting tables, and

holing up in a cold Duluth hillside apartment, Sarah has crafted a lustrous folk sound that serves as a breathing foundation for her earnest and straightforward songwriting. Krueger’s zealous performing and prevailing voice offer

a fresh presence to the stage and seem to hit all the soft spots in the complicated space between us all.

MOON & POLLUTION - MONDAY, FEBRUARY 27Moon and Pollution is a study in contrasts. The duo consists of vocalist Molly Dean and producer/drummer Graham O’Brien (No Bird Sing.) The two explore the combination of the melodic and abstract in this new venture. Dean’s elegant phrasing and unique melodies fuse flawlessly with the hypnotic textures of O’Brien’s unforgettable live tracks. The end result is an accessible, engaging listen for the masses. At once sublime and invigorating, Moon and Pollution offers a truly rare musical experience.

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 1 - GAELYNN LEEClassically trained violinist and songwriter Gaelynn Lea has been bewitching scores of fans with her experimental

and ambient takes on fiddle music, an approach that incorporates her love of traditional tunes, songwriting, poetry and sonic exploration. Her work most recently won NPR Music’s 2016 Tiny Desk Contest, a competition drawing

submissions of original songs from more than 6,000 musicians across the country. Gaelynn Lea has been playing violin for over twenty years, developing an improvisational style all her own.
