Dear Parents, NAIDOC CELEBRATIONS Thank you to Mrs Grant, Mr Scott, Mrs Scott-Thomas and our Koori families for the work in planning and celebrating St Patrick’s NAIDOC day today. Thank you to past staff Mrs Aldridge, as well as past and current families and students for leading of our learning activities. Thank you to Shaq, to the group of Bega High students and to Mr Bakker for leading other learning. GRANT SUCCESS! We would like to thank the P&F for their application to the Ministers Conservation Fund, and Tamara Whiting for her support in writing the application. Our request for funding has been successful! St Patrick’s have been granted $4000 toward the creation of our shade trees and recycled watering system on the playground flats, how wonderful! CELEBRATING LEARNING Thank you to the parents and family members who have been able to come to the class celebrations of learning in recent days and weeks. The children are so excited when they can proudly share their learning achievements. I have enjoyed celebrating with students from Kinder to Year 6 as they have achieved their personal learning goals. The readiness with which they think and plan for their next steps in learning, through writing their next learning goals, shows the power of this process. ATHLETICS Thank you to Mrs Harnett for the flexibility in managing the weather and still running a successful (mini) athletics carnival. The Council of Catholic School Parents NSW/ACT publish ‘Parent Talk’ as a way to connect with families and give practical advice about how to engage in their child’s learning. I recommend this to you, please go to this link. http://www.ccsp.catholic.edu.au/ Finally, my gratitude extends to you, the parents and carers of our 200 St Pat’s children, thank you for the commitment to your child’s education in Semester 1. Thank you for your collaboration with your child’s teacher, and the school, to ensure home and school are working together for learning success for your child. I hope you have the opportunity to share some (or all) of the holiday with your child/ren and relax together enjoying the hobbies and pastimes that get put aside in the busyness of term time. See you in Term 3. Here we are at the end of a great term of learning at St Pat’s! This special week of NAIDOC I had the

privilege of listening to speeches from the Stage 2 and 3 students and of attending some Celebrations of

Learning. It was wonderful to see so many parents in attendance.

Students and parents, have a wonderful holiday and continue to read, learn and grow, spend precious time

with families, create great memories and be thankful to our God for all the wonders He gives to us.

Many blessings,

Mary-Ann

NAIDOC Week

This week St Patrick’s celebrated NAIDOC week.

The week began with ‘Welcome to Country’ and

a flag raising ceremony. On Wednesday St

Patrick’s Koori students went to Jigamy Farm to

participate in cultural activities. On Friday St

Patrick’s hosted a NAIDOC Mass and rotational

activities. Thank you to the parents and

community members who supported these

activities.

Last Monday we managed to finalise this year’s athletics carnival. The winning house this year is Tennison. The age champions for 2018 are:- Jnr Boy: Jontae Thompson, Jnr Girl: Kirra Seenan, 11yr boy Lachlan Marks, 11 year girl: Jasmin Lehmann, Snr Boy: Jasper Kelly, Snr girl Ayesha Twyford. Congratulations go to these 6 children. The children who have been selected to represent St Pat's at the regional carnival have taken home a permission note which should be returned to school ASAP. Tennis Racquets Yesterday the Kindies took home their new tennis racquets. Hot Shots Australia provides these racquets to schools who offer tennis as a sport. Only the first schools to reply with numbers receive these racquets. They are for the kindies to keep and practice their new skills at home. The Bega District News was at school on Tuesday to photograph the children in action. Volunteers Required The regional carnival will be held here in Bega on Thursday 2

nd August. Our school hosts the day which includes

providing a canteen. Pip White has volunteered to coordinate this but she will need helpers on the day. Jobs that will need to be filled are cooking the bbq, preparing the hot food, serving at the counter, setting up and packing up. Also baking cakes, slices, etc, at home. There has been very limited response to the first call for help. If you can help out even for an hour Pip would appreciate it. Most of the money raised comes from out of town and goes to benefit all our children not just the kids at the carnival. Please fill in the form below if you can help in any way. (Even if you have made a verbal response) This way we can prepare some kind of timetable for helpers. I can help at the regional athletics carnival on Thursday 2

nd August. I would like to:-

cook on the bbq set up pack up preparation serving home baking anything Signed: ______________________
