Week 1 Initial research on myNEU where we asked some people we knew and interviewed them. We knew it sucked, but wehadtofigureoutwhy.


Week 1 We looked at other portals from other schools and how they compared to myNEU. We found that they all followed the same confusing layout and were generally useless. This information shifted our attention to the


Week 1 OurteamdecidedthatmyNEU’sbiggestproblemwastheorganizationofthelinksandthelayoutofthewebpage.Wechoosetoreorganizeandredesignthehomepageand the containers of the links. Here is an early sketch of possible containers for links.


Week 2

In order to seperate our groupings from the current groups on myNEU, we chose to write every myNEU link ontoaseperatestickynoteandmanuallyorganizetheminto groups, deciding if we needed to keep or remove the links


Week 2

Next we grouped the links onto the board and created dif-ferent categories and subcategories. This allowed us to manually test the layout of the site and the effectiveness. of the category names.

Here we were challenged with not only decisions for group names, but also deciding how many links would be acceptablepergroup.Wewantedtobespecific,butnotredundant.


Week 3 Wecreatedourprototypeofthesiteinaflowchartformusedtotesttheorganizationoflinksandhowpeoplerespondtothenewcontainersfirst.Thisisthefullsetoflinksproperlycategorizedinthegroupswecreated.


Week 3 Our survey was created in week 2, but had the most responses by week 3. We designed it again to test the containers of the links and to see which links were the most commonly used within myNEU.

Wechosenottoincludethefinallinksinthesurvey,butrather test what people looked for most and if our group names were intuitive enough for people to understand immediately.

Week 3 After we completed a majority of the research, we started to work on the layout of the webpage itself. These are other sketches based on the Northeastern website.


Week 4 We used Adobe XD to create the site and change things as we went, so at this point we had no more screenshots of variations.

Wemadedecisionsasagroupandwereveryinfluencedby wanting the design to be a balance between a website and a source for links, like myNEU is.
