First Magnet

Dual magnet spectrometer Proposal:SM3 coils and SM12 iron to

construct first magnet

– Note that this means that SM3 is not available (at least with all 3 coils) for 2nd magnet

Special Considerations 30t iron blocks—crane can only support 25t.

– Blocks can be lowered upstream, assembled inside with smaller, stronger gantry crane

– Blocks can be cut and moved with 25t crane

– Problem with all designs Power and cooling available, but Fermilab task

force will make sure

Second Magnet

Options investigates include KTeV Magnet

– Its there, it’s free

– Field up to 0.6GeV pT kick, but KTeV ran at much lower field. Only map for 0.4GeV pt kick

SM3

– Its not there

– 3 coils not available with solid iron magnet,

– but 2 coils could give sufficient pT kick for experiment

JGG

– In use (P907)

– Needs repair (I believe)

Power and cooling available, but Fermilab task force will make sure
