Magothy River Middle School’sParent Weekly Update
MRMS SPOTLIGHT
Student's enjoying Fun Friday
during lunch.
Dear Families,
Thank you for joining our PTSO, due to your
donations our students were able to enjoy another Fun-Friday. We
played three games and gave out prizes. Our students had a blast
check out the attached photos. Without your support this
would not be possible!
Yearbook Update
Please read the attached flyer. We apologize that our former
company sent emails to our families regarding yearbook
purchases. We are no longer working with Jostens;
our new Yearbook provider is Classic. Refunds will be
issued by Jostens if a yearbook was purchased in advanced.
Principal's Honor Roll
If your child earns straight A's on their report card, they will be
invited to attend the Principal's Honor Roll Breakfast hosted by our
PTSO. Parents are also encouraged to attend. Please see the
attached flyer.
Bus Loop
Please remember that during the school day, vehicles are not
allowed in the bus loop. During dismissal parents must pick-up in
the faculty parking lot. Remember student safety is our priority!
Car Riders
We are asking that our families please pull all the way up in the car
rider lane and drop off quickly. Please do not park or exit your
vehicle when in the car rider lane. This causes frustration with the
other drivers which also forces them to drive around you which is
not safe for our students. If you would like to park, please pull into
a parking spot and take as much time as you need. Lastly, be
mindful of our crosswalk and our pedestrians!
Supervision
Please note that school supervision does not begin until 9:15am.
If your child is dropped off before 9:15 there is not an available
adult monitoring students. If your child is involved in
a performance club, Teacher Office Hours or made prior
arrangements then please follow through with discussed plans.
Sincerely,
Dr. Williams

National Junior Honor Society is the leader among middle school
organizations that recognize student achievement in the combined areas of
scholarship, leadership, citizenship, service, and character. New 7th and
8th graders members who have a 3.75 or better cumulative GPA are
invited to complete an application after 2nd marking period. The Marlin
Chapter follows the national standards which require a Faculty Council
screening of all membership applications with a focus on student
leadership, school/community activities, community/civic involvement,
and character. Membership is competitive and the decisions of the Faculty
Council are final. A formal induction ceremony is held in late January.

Federal Impact Aid Survey Form
On Monday, September 30, 2019, your child will bring home a Federal
Impact Aid Survey form. Please assist us by filling out the information requested
on the form and return it to Anne Arundel County Public Schools in the self-
addressed, stamped envelope provided.
The U.S. Department of Education allows a multiple child form. AACPS has
designed a form that will allow two children’s names for your convenience.
Should you have more than two children, please utilize a second form that you
can either obtain from the school or download from the AACPS website at
www.aacps.org. Also, please note that the complete address of the
Parent/Guardian’s Employer if they work on Federal Property, the complete
address of the Federal Property on which they work, and each survey form must
be signed and dated by the Parent/Guardian. The Federal Impact Aid Survey
form for 2019-2020 will be available to download on September 30, 2019. We
will also be using our Connect-Ed Automated Telephone Notification System to
remind everyone about the significance of completing and returning this survey.
The school system receives approximately $2 million in funding from the Federal
government in support of our children after the forms are processed.
Thank you in advance for your support and assistance. Should you have any
questions regarding this information, please call Angie Smack in the Finance
Office at 410-222-5200.
